Catsbury - Medieval RPG Updates
« on: August 23, 2014, 06:33:46 PM »
Hi there. I am Liam B and I am currently reconstructing my world Catsbury. If you didn't know, Catsbury is an RPG world where you play how you want, there is no path you have to follow. You can take part in difficult quests with extreme combat scenarios and will be rewarded heavily. Train your skills to mine, chop, craft or smelt your way to the top. If you don't want to do do any of these, just simple look around and explore the different biomes that lie in your way.

Host: Liam Bradbury
Co-Host: Michaelc9

Here are the updates. This will be updated everytime something is updated or fully completed during construction. There is also the to-do list. This will either become empty or may grow if we come up with ideas that will make the world much better.

Updates:
10/1/2016:
Troll Plateau has received a major redesign.
Merlin's Crystal quest added.
Opening of Michaelc9's library.
Michaelc9's mini-lottery added on his personal island.
Completely new tutorial teacher the newer players about skills.
More complicated scripts and menus to work teleportation.
The Real Estate and Premium Builders Guild added for creative players.

Previously:
Books at Tutorial Village have been added to aid newer players to get their Catsbury experience started.
Admin lounge added near the spawn.
Some older, boring places have been reworked to look more up to date.
Spawn has been reworked which is more simpler for newer players.
Skills work correctly within the world.
Decals added to necessary areas for more effect.
Underground Passage has been changed slightly to make it more difficult.
Particles are used in many places for more effect.
Some quests are tweaked and have changed designs.

To do:
Add a new quest series based on gods of the land. Links to other quests. (WIP)
Add a few more bosses in the Wilderness.
Finish the land underwater. (WIP)
Add a major storyline involving easter eggs and secrets.

This map sounds like it would be a lot of fun, I'll try to stop by sometime.

Sounds good! :D Pics? :)

I agree, pictures of your world would be nice.

Nope. I can only take pictures with my phone, but it is really bad.

Perhaps you can get someone else to take them? There are a few people here on the forums that I'm sure would be happy to take some when they get the time.

Hello everyone. I am Jurassic Cat and I have a world called Catsbury. Catsbury is a world with plenty of quests, bosses and much more. It is a never ending game and the more you complete quests, the better items and armour you can get for bosses to make more cash!

Catsbury is created by me and my friend Michaelc9.

As of now, Catsbury is still under construction and make take a long time. I will be posting updates on what has been added since this post has been up.

Updates:
Added lots of detail to trees, plants etc.
Added most of the signs, NPCs, Scripts and Mob Spawners back to how they should be.
Completed a desert village.
Underground Passage scripting improved.
Shopping City has been completed.
Wilderness has been completed.
Lighthouse has been re-decorated
A desert quest has been added.
Two rival islands quest completed.
Catsbury Prison added.
The whole Troll Plateau is completed.
Working shops have been added.
A mine has been added.
The Underground City (first part)

To do:

Rest of the signs, NPCs, Scripts and Mob Spawners
Sewers
A few quests

When we feel that it has enough completed, we will release a test game, very much like a Beta just to see if everything we have added such as signs and scripts are working. (I sometimes make several mistakes with spelling) Whenever the test comes on, it will be up for a week.

I voted No.
Why? Because there are many newcomers to this game,
and many people who don't enjoy the skills.
Now for me i could skill grind for a day and have more skills then 90% of the game.
But think of others.
Welcome, come on inside...

I voted, yes! Because, skills are here to stay. And they provide a nice distraction from PURE building. I enjoy them, I just hate skill worlds that use RPG as their tag. :P

Skills definitely bring more atmosphere to your map! As Shades said it's not just buildings but skills too. They help with the RpG element and people will love to stay especially that you've set up your map correctly :)

As I've stated various times, due to the skills system being silly, it makes editing anything impossible for Admins or Hosts that have not boosted in order to be able to use the sledgehammer.
It means editing can only be done effectively without Skills enabled, meaning all editing has to be done when the world's not being used normally which is not practical, especially for a new world that'll need tweaking on the go.

A definite NO.

A fair point. I don't know if I should go with the majority or make it easier for me and everyone else.

You can either go with the 'majority', or you can go by my word. Bear in mind that I am your co-host and adviser.

If the silly aspect of Admins needing to level up was removed, then I would be in favour.
