Spoiler for Hidden Content:
Our Golden Age
Everything changed with the arrival of the Traveler. Long ago, it breathed new life into our system. Rain washed over Mars. Fresh air cleansed the skies over Venus. Soon after, humanity raced into the black, and colonized these newly remade worlds. It was a time of miracles – a great Golden Age.

Hope In The Darkness
t did not last. The Traveler had an ancient enemy. A powerful darkness that found us here on Earth, and nearly destroyed us. No one knows exactly what happened in those final moments, but we know this: we survived, and we owe our lives to the Traveler.

We Rise Again
In our darkest days, Humans, Exos, and Awoken found the Traveler where it made its last stand, low above Earth, silent and immobile. We built the City – our last – within its protective veil, fighting countless wars to keep its peace. From that dark age, Guardians were born.

The New Frontier

You are a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth, able to wield some of the Traveler's incredible power. You are taking this mantle just as a new day dawns. Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks have finally returned to our long-lost worlds, only to find out we are not alone.
Defend the last safe City on Earth. Defeat our enemies. Explore the ancient ruins of our solar system. Discover all that we have lost.
Become legend.

Spoiler for Hidden Content:
Our home. After the Darkness swept over us, we found the Traveler where it made its last stand. Beneath, we built The City – our last – within its protective aura. From here, Guardians stand watch, defend our civilization, and strike out into the wild frontiers of Earth – and beyond – to reclaim our lost worlds.

Like Earth, the ruins of humanity's former glory can be found scattered across the familiar lunar surface. Recent exploration attempts have been repulsed, reporting increased enemy activity, and even strange tectonic phenomenon. The City has since classified the Moon as a "Forbidden Zone,” open only to our most brave and experienced Guardians.

Venus was once the site of great discovery – a paradise. Now, it is a monument to all that we have lost. The old stories say we built an academy dedicated to learning and research on the shore of a wondrous sea, and that the waters themselves boiled and rose up to shatter the coast, washing away all that we had built.

What little we know of Mars may as well be a myth. We built a massive metropolis in the red dust. The Darkness swept nearly all of it away; the sand itself claimed the rest. No one knows what remains of our lost age, now buried beneath the dunes.

General Information
Destiny will center on the journey of the Guardians, the last defenders of humanity, set to protect Earth's last city. Guardians will be divided into three distinct races: Humans, Awoken, and Exo. Humans are described as being relatable, tough, and uncomplicated. Bungie drew its inspiration for the Human race from the military, and the character designs and aesthetics of the Spartans present in their Halo franchise. Awoken, described as exotic, beautiful, and mysterious, were inspired by fictional depictions of elves, vampires, ghosts, and angels. Exo are described as being sinister, powerful, and tireless. Exo were inspired by the undead, Halo's Master Chief, and the titular character of The Terminator The playable races will be purely cosmetic and will have no effect on the game mechanics of Destiny.

Players will also be able to choose a "class" to go alongside their race. There are three classes available to players in Destiny: Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans. Hunters are a reconnaissance-based class meant to be reminiscent of the classic "bounty hunter." Bungie cites as influences Star Wars's Han Solo and classic characters from old Western films such as Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name. Warlocks combine weapons with special powers from "the Traveler," and are meant to be a form of "space wizard." The Warlock class is influenced by the Star Wars series' Jedi Knights, The Lord of the Rings series' Gandalf, and The Matrix series' Morpheus. Titans, which favor heavy weapons and melee attacks and are intended to be reminiscent of the classic "future soldier," were inspired by Bungie's own Master Chief from Halo, Stormtroopers from Star Wars, and other "space marines" from science fiction. The players will be accompanied by Ghosts, a robot AI voiced by Peter Dinklage.

Armored Engine Of War
Their lightning-charged fists will knock you off your feet. Their armor and shields make them nearly invincible. We like to think they are our faceless knights, protecting us from our countless enemies. But their power and resolve gives them the air of rising gods.

Wielder Of Arcane Power
They’ve found a way to weaponize their curiosity, harnessing the Traveler’s light in patterns never before imagined. Warlocks are not passive scholars of the unknown. These are mystic warriors, capable of incredible acts of devastation.

Master Of The Frontier
Quick on the trigger and deadly with a blade, Hunters stalk battlefields as if they were hunting prey. Cunning and ruthless, they prize the undiscovered and prepare for the unexpected, channeling their powers by intuition and gut instinct.

Spoiler for Hidden Content:
Fallen are hardy creatures who can survive in a wide range of environments without heavy armor or complex modifications to their physiology. They travel light, hit hard, and are gone before you know it. Fallen may look like mere scavengers, but on closer inspection you will see hints of a splendid, sophisticated past, and the proud markings of their ancestral "Houses."

Hive manipulate the physical world in ways that we can only begin to imagine. The Hive have carved a kingdom deep into the lifeless core of the Moon, and it is there they remain, silent and buried among many dark and terrible secrets, a reminder of the tremendous power that brought forth the Collapse.

Scattered reports indicate that the Vex appear to be mass-produced machine units, constructed of an unknown metal alloy resembling hammered brass. All attempts to communicate with them have failed. They are hostile. They are unrelenting. They are deadly.

Few Guardians have faced Cabal and lived to tell the tale. They are a professional military operation. On every front we have found them on the march, they have already dug in and ringed their installations with razor wire. Now, it seems they've turned their eyes towards us.

Weekly Update 08.01.14

This week at Bungie, we put the Destiny Beta into millions of players’ hands.
No easy feat. You all kicked mountains of ass. While you battled aliens and each other, we learned a lot about how things work behind the scenes. We discovered even more by watching you fight and win and die and revive.
Now that it’s over, we’re having a blast all over again as you all try to tell your war stories in the loudest voice. The Destiny community has changed. You’ve seen some things. What’s been seen cannot be unseen.
The Beta was like a blizzard of data. As we dig ourselves out from underneath the numbers, we’re finding a few you might like. We know you hunger for stats. A lot of you mined them from the Destiny Companion. Here’s a post-game carnage report we can all click and enjoy:
Spoiler for Hidden Content:
Our favorite achievement is the concurrency statistic. At its peak, the Destiny Beta became the most simultaneously played Bungie game of all time. There were more people online at the same time to play Destiny than any other game in our history. The Beta was more played than even final versions of previous Bungie games. You joined forces to populate the last safe city on Earth, and blew our minds.
This test was huge for us. In the final hours of our grand experiment, we put you to the real test. We knocked you down, but you got up again. We shrank the pool of available servers. We kicked you into orbit, applied patches to your ships, and watched as you descended to fight and dance and rage. Again. There was no stopping you. In the end, we had to kick the plug out of the wall.
We’re running out of ways to thank you for what the Beta has meant to us. We hope you had fun. Destiny will be a better game because you played it. Perhaps that’s the best gesture we can manage – to deliver a game that’s better than it was before your contribution.
Time will tell. Not much time, either. Today is the first day of August. Start the countdown on your last month of waiting. Next month, we’ll all start playing Destiny for real. You might even think you’re ready.
You’re not. (wink)

Where’d you get that

We’re already starting to hear that question being asked. One Guardian to another, people want to know where to dig the gold out of our brave new world. Everything worth having, from the guns in your grip to the armor on your back, will be tied to the action that you survive. When your friends ask where you got yours, you’ll have amazing stories to tell. Maybe you’ll even relive them through their fresh eyes.
Here’s a great story – and it cannot be relived or shared. If you played in the Beta, we’re equipping you with proof. It’ll be something that people won’t be able to mimic or obtain. It happened, or it didn’t. If you put your boots on the ground in the Destiny Beta, a launch emblem will be waiting for you in September.
Spoiler for Hidden Content:
With this emblem, we lured you to the July 26th rally. We needed to fill up our servers; see if you could break our backbone. You showed up to help us set our new record for concurrency. Now that we’ve seen how our new tech responds to a heavy load, we’re a lot more prepared for launch day.
Spoiler for Hidden Content:
This emblem is for everyone who played, or wrestled the centipede and lost. Every moment of the Beta was important. Every tester was worthy of celebration and decoration. Polish it up and pin it to the upper right corner of your screen. Like all the best things in Destiny, you earned it.
You’ll be the envy of the people you meet in orbit. They’ll wonder where that came from. Feel free to tell them: “I played in the Beta. I helped Bungie make this game. I was there before Destiny was cool. Where were you?”
Oh, man. They’re gonna be jealous as their jump drives kick in.

Bungie Weekly Update - 08/08/2014

This week at Bungie, I’m packing my bags. You will never see this face again.

There is one question you’ve all been asking since the Destiny Beta went offline. We’ve heard you. It’s time to issue an official response. Before we get down to business, indulge me as I cast my own loving look back. There’s something I have to say to my dashing defender of the last safe city on Earth.
Hey, handsome. Miss you. We had a lot of fun together, didn’t we?
You were bold. Even in the darkest corners of Old Russia, your eyes burned with the same purple intensity that sent so many of your enemies into the Void.
You stood fast in the face of danger. Hive Ogres shook the ground beneath your feet.  The Lord of the Iron Banner put your skills to the test. Yet, after every mission, you returned triumphantly to the Tower.  Humanity had nothing to fear – not on your watch.
You were brave.
And now, you are gone.
You and millions of Guardians just like you. You helped us build a better world – all of you. But as great as that place has become, it’s a place that wouldn’t make sense to you anymore. Too much has changed.
I’ll remember you, and millions of Guardians like you, for the things you taught us. Thank you for letting us learn from your adventures. We promise your sacrifice will not be in vain.
See you starside.

If the rest of you haven’t gathered the painful truth from the eulogy yet, our Beta characters won’t transfer to the final version of Destiny. The vaults have been cleaned out, too.
Step away from this update and take a walk. Have a good cry, or howl at the Moon. We’ll be here when you’re done…
Welcome back.
What you just experienced is something we’ve been through countless times here at Bungie. We feel your pain, and then some. Making a game requires iteration and progress. When we reinvent the world where the Guardians live, sometimes we have to leave them behind.
Tyson Green is a Bungie designer who thinks long and hard about character ownership. He’s said goodbye to hundreds of Guardians throughout the pursuit of Destiny, and dozens of those warriors had evolved well past Level 8. He’s not the reason why your character is gone, but Tyson can explain why our Guardians won’t accompany us on launch day:
Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.
We’ve been asked many times if this was a real Beta. It was. We learned a lot from your participation, and we’re going to tweak, adjust, and in some cases, make some significant alterations that ultimately mean your Beta Guardian can’t go home again.
This is the last time we’ll ask you to part with your hero. On September 9th, you can create a Guardian who will keep you company for a good, long time. On a long-enough timeline, you might decide to delete him or her and start over again – but that will be your call to make.
There are other worlds than these…
If you’re still smarting about the loss of your Beta Guardian, we’re here for you. Everyone in the studio is here for you, in fact. This week, for perhaps the final time, we “wiped” all the brave heroes that lived in the full build of Destiny. The usual funeral pyre of final screenshots was gathered and set alight.
Matt Bennier is a Senior Artist at Bungie. His exotic protector of humanity struck a final pose in our inbox that began the parade of commemoration and remembrance. Anyone out there still think that Warlocks aren’t frabjous enough?

Grab your Destiny Companion. Look at your Guardian. Now look at Matt’s. Now back to your Guardian. Now back to his. Despite your brave service and fantastic exploits in the Beta, it was only your first step into the wider world of Destiny. A small (yet record breaking) percentage of you barely even ventured to the Moon. There is so much left to do – so much left to earn and master.
Right now, you’re lamenting the loss of your starter gear, those pearls of mayhem of destruction that you carved from the wastes of Old Russia. Look beyond that horizon. We have exotic arms and armaments secreted away – adventures you can barely imagine right now.
In time.

That is the reason I went to bob to ask for permission to create this topic.
There needs to be some sort of information for newcomers to look up upon.
You are welcome, Rejectz
