No scripts in No edit zones
« on: April 14, 2014, 08:34:54 AM »
I'm running in to a problem. That scripts are not working in no edit zones.
When the script activated, it just says 'No Edit Zone'.

Can anyone confirm if this is true or am i missing something?
If it is, are there any workarounds? As it's a shame my map players will not be able to have edit permissions.

Put an edit zone inside of the no edit zone around the script block.

Put an edit zone inside of the no edit zone around the script block.

I think this may work, but ill verify when i get home. And it isnt the script block inside the no edit zone, the no edit zone is the "target" of the script, so to say.

Ah I see, Try putting a 'safe zone' around the coordinates of where you want the scripts target to be.

I think the problem comes in if you want to place protected blocks with a script (like an event) for a map where players can build and mine.

This worked, thanks. It does still leave the targeted region open to grief though.
Very problematic, like for instance a 2x3 wall that opens when you press a button. Players can just mine through it.

Well you have to think, The average person if they try to mine a wall and it says no edit zone then will they try to mine another wall too?

Correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying, To set a switch that moves the block once turned on then wait a while then turn on a no edit zone?

1: Zone [name] [edit]
2: MoveRegion
3: Zone [name] [noedit]

You might want to add a wait 500 just so it runs smoothly (Just to make sure)

1: Zone [zone1] [edit]
2: MoveRegion [x,y,z] [z,y,z]
3:Wait [500]
4: Zone [zone1] [noedit]

the game would run it in that order, surely wouldn't perform a secondary command first.. no need for a wait.

Wait [500] gives me half a second to look away from the button/switch & spam a block in there before the no-edit zone is back on :p

Ah true.. But sometimes when I run a move block it takes a while to update and show the block, Maybe since the no edit zone would block unless it had ample time... But that's just my opinion maybe if it is added it wouldn't. (But that could be a bug if it is added)

That's just the graphics which take a lil time to update sometimes.
the commit command is used to force that graphical refresh; the data is there already.

Oh, I didn't know it was the graphics :3 So then you wouldn't need the wait command. :3
