XBox Indie Games must undergo peer review before they are released to the service. These are performed by other developers on the Indie Games service, who review the game for unacceptable content, game instability, and other factors that would be detrimental for wide release on the service, though these reviewers do not attempt to qualify the quality of the game itself. Reviewers also provided suggested content ratings for the games, similar to the submission phase. Games require multiple trusted reviews before they are released. Rejected games can be resubmitted using feedback provided by the reviewers.
A game must have 8 Passes from reviewers before the update will go live. Should a game fail peer review, it will be a 1 week waiting period before it can be resubmitted. How long does Peer Review take?
There is no definitive answer to that. It will be a minimum of 48 hours, but could possibly take several weeks. 1 week from submission would be a decent rough estimate. How do I download the update?
Once peer review has passed, the marketplace must first be updated by Microsoft before you will be able to download the new version. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours. Once the marketplace for your region has been updated, all you need to do is simply start the game as normal, and you should be prompted to download the new version.
