It occurs to me that many here are unaware that there are alternatives to Xbox Live for Multiplayer gaming.
Some gamers that have the original Xbox's have already discovered XBConnect. I have played with others on there a few years ago.. XBConnect is software that runs on your PC and will let you play Microsoft Xbox/360 games and Sony PSP games with players from around the world. XBConnect works by making your Xbox think it is participating in a local area network (LAN). Best part of all, it’s completely legal, and completey free to use. Any System Link game for the Xbox console is available to play on XBConnect.

Xlink is another alternative, but I've never had experience with it.

Yes Xlink Kai is what I have used, works on mac and windows from memory.

Sadly it doesn't work with 360 games (actually it does work with some I think), but you can use a 360 to play original games that support it, I played a good amount of halo 1 and 2 on my elite using Xlink Kai.

Worked surprisingly well.
