no offense... But that's a horrible plan as spears are kinda bad once you get past the first area.
"My recommendation would be to use a spear (really easy for PvE, you can hide behind a shield and poke from far away; grab the spear from the merchant in the berg for 600 souls) and high stability shield. Upgrade the spear to +5 asap, then +10, then pick up the lightning spear in sen's, upgrade to enchanted, or use the moonlight butterfly horn.
When you first start, make sure u can use the spear (10 str 11 dex), then add 1:1:1 vit, end, and int until everything is ~20, then get int to ~50, then go back and pump vit till 40. You should finish the game before you finish getting your vit up.
Get as many iterations of soul arrow as you can. I think you can get 3 (or 4, if you start as a sorc) per playthrough. If you get too many, bump your attunement up for more slots. 16 or 19 are good numbers to stop at here.
By the time you hit Anor Lando you should have three copies of soul spear, two copies of greater soul spear, a copy of heavy soul spear and greater heavy soul spear. This gives you ~150 casts every time you touch a bonfire. The normal ones will eat normal enemies, even through shields, and the heavy ones will rip bosses apart in a few casts.
Look for two major items: bellowing dragoncrest ring, and crown of dusk.
Once you get to dukes and run that quest chain, you now have crystal spells and the TCC. Save your crystal casts w/ tcc for big enemies and bosses. I have beaten S&O with two casts of crystal soul spear before.
With dragoncrest, crown of dusk, red tearstone, and TCC w/ 50 int, you can one-shot the final boss of the game with some spells."
is the suggestion I found ^_^
