Nick this seems like a good idea, any kind of increased creative ability is a good thing, however to be devils advocate, why would these be good in the game?

With half-blocks you can make stairs and counters as well as steps. What can you do with quarter blocks?
You need to provided enough good examples of uses so that it is worth it for craig to spend the time building this.

How long will it be before people are asking for a 3rd block or a 8th block?

Uses for quarter blocks would be:

-More creativity: including more detail for curves from a far distance,
-new styles for windows, walls, floors, ect. ,
-If stacked only 1 quarter high, shorter steps for stairs, creating unique walkways
-If stacked 3 quarters high, used to jump over
-Creating gaps in the floor but still being able to walk on. Example, using 4 quarter blocks stacked up on the left side of the normal block space, but leaving the right side blank, creating holes in the floor, but not falling through because the gap is too small...there are many many things people could come up with.
The list goes on.

I have many more uses for it I could think of as well.

Well going into the 3rd and 8th block, I think we should first focus on the quarter and if it works with the game with no conflicts and turns out to be useful, then we can think about the smaller blocks beyond that. Good question! :)

I love this idea, but I think it would be to hard to implement. If you notice how difficult it can be just to set a slab right now. I imagine it is now very easy to program this type of block. Sounds simple on paper, but it probably a pain to set the properties.

Plus, it kind of doesn't really follow any theme. I mean, look at the slabs, they at least seem like something you would craft. So if follows the crafting theme. If you make a quarter block, it would serve little purpose, unless you can have 2 or more quarter blocks occupying the same block. Than this is another thing entirely. It can really get complicated when you think about it. You would have to program something similar to what Fortress Craft customizable block work like, and that is going to tax the game. I don't know how realistic this would be to create, and if it matches a specific theme.

Love the idea, just don't see it happening.

I imagine it is NOT very easy to program this type of block.

Hey.

I got a great idea!

Add the following blocks: 1/3 1/4 1/5 1/6 1/7 1/8 1/9 1/10

It would allow much more detail ;)

Well it wouldn't have to necessarily be easy to craft but just as easy as half blocks. The quarter size would still serve a purpose and if stairs are already very close to what I mean, I think they could cut 4 sections of a block up just like a Rubik's cube only cut twice. And more than one quarter block would be able to be in the same block area that is already set at the normal size, except when you place four on the bottom, it would turn into a half block, and when you place all 8 to make up the standard area of the block, it would simply just turn into that block unless the textures are different for each quarter. Very complicated to explain but I hope you follow me?

The update information in the game menu mentions Custom blocks for later.
This will probably allow many more options than just 'quarter blocks.
