can we make a rule to ban this type of thread?
« on: March 04, 2016, 05:45:56 PM »
not trying to be a lemon here, but im pretty sure, based off of bobs post
 http://totalminerforums.net/index.php?topic=16483.msg172651#msg172651
that everyone had a rather similar opinion on that type of thread, where it was burying all of the other posts..and also, what if when a new member joins the forums, and the 1st thing they see is that kind of post,or this in general

and i mean thats perfectly fine that you do this kind of role play or whtvr, you do you,and again, not trying to be a lemon here, but now theres another similar topic
http://totalminerforums.net/index.php?topic=16496.msg172563#msg172563
again,at the end of the day youre free to do what you please, but imo i think there should be a line drawn as to whats acceptable or whats allowed, and i mean im not hating on the thread, but i have a good feeling its just going to end like the 1st thread, and im sure noone wants to see a thread get spammed 10 20x every day again, and i mean we dont need new members seeing these topics when they join or whtvr, which is why i think there should be some type of rule in place,so that these types of threads dont get created,or atleast escalated too much

Can we also make a rule to ban "Your World" topics made on maps already previously made in minecraft?

You think there should be a rule to ban fun, trolly, stupid, maybe even ridiculous topics, in /the fun house/ section?

If a topic is no good people don't reply, people obviously enjoyed the Temei topic. Leave it be to those who enjoy it. It's called the fun house for a reason.

I find it annoying when I get spammed with it over and over again. The post is just a breeding ground for it and it leaves the forums and in the last 2 days alone, I got over 13 messages with this Timmy nonsense

Honestly it's fine if you just admit that it isn't yours, and give credit where credit is due.

What percentage of people have done that?

I got spammed with the butter stick 'bumping', there's an option to ignore boards also, you know. I don't know if there's a way to ignore topics though. But like Eclipse said, people enjoyed that topic...

The butter thing was nowhere near as active as the tem topic. Plus, it was vaguely relevant to a shoutbox conversation that some 6 or 7 people were involved in. 3 people were in the tem topic like... a lot. Obviously the butter topic wasn't a problem. Bob, the forum admin, didn't remove it.

People were bumping it to bury other topics, look at it.

You 3 were posting over 10 posts a day in a topic the majority of the forums didn't care about.

I saw just fine what they [the butter sticks] were saying. They did that once, maybe twice, a day for a few days after the joke took place.

Note: I am slightly biased because I made a swanky GIF.

He has a point. If you go to your profile`s, there is a option to ignore a topic.

Any of the fun house threads that get bumped 50 times a day are most likely going to wind up locked anyways because sooner or later it will start to annoy me seeing it at the top of new content constantly.

Anyone who doesn't want to see fun house stuff in their feed, just put the fun house into your ignore board options.

I'd rather keep that stuff contained in one easily ignorable section than to have it spilling over into topics that serve some sort of purpose. New members aren't going to care what happens in the fun house. If they're looking for information on TM and their first instinct is to click the section labelled "fun house" then they have worse problems than not being able to find useful posts.

I say we just have a thread reporting, where if it is rendered annoying, any Members of the site can vote on whether or not to lock it.
