Nested Quotes again
« on: February 07, 2016, 07:38:02 AM »
I think we need nested quotes back (Quotes within quotes). I know they were probably removed to stop endless chains of quotes.

My solution would to be to only include quotes who's parent post is the target post.

Ex.
Quote from: Dryym
Quote from: bob
Quote

Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc. ...
This is a terrible idea, I hate it and I'll never add it.

Well that isn't very nice Bob.  :,(

The OP would not be included in bob's post as it is a quote of the next party over. If I'm quoting Dryym quoting Bob, Only Dryym's quote from Bob should be included.

The reason I suggest this is that many times people either split quotes up into multiple parts, And their text loses context.
Or when people reply by adding coloured text into a quote. It is impossible to properly quote them.

Oh, Really?

I thought you just got annoyed by the endless quote chains that it caused sometimes. XD

I got bored one time and think it would be relevant to post this here.

Colour Conquer is now about finished. One more night of working on it with Zoidberg, and we should be finished.
I'm considering starting a new project based on an old pathfinder setting that I ran as a DM. It's a Cowboy/Western fantasy with all sorts of spells and epic adventures. I need a name for it though. It needs to be Cowboy/Western/fantasy-ish. I'm open to suggestions.
when do you want me takeing pics and or recording?
I'm excited for the [REDACTED] project. ^-^
Tomorrow around... um... 1-5 ish.
I've got more time opened up for working on it.
I have finished "Colour Conquer". It is now ready for sharing. Anyone that wants it, Xbox message me!
I'm feeling that another couple days of resting is due. I have still been scripting in the passed few days.
can I pick up a copy today
You can. Message me when you're on and ready to receive it. Do note, there is one oversight on the finished build, but it's surpassable and will be fixed eventually.

Very cool game! How do you win?
It would seem from the video you need to have the most squares with your color to win.
Correct.
The goal of the game is to capture as many squares on the grid as possible. You capture squares by simply walking over them, when you walk over them, they will change to the color of your team. At the end of the time limit, all players are teleported back to the spawn, and the game will detect how many squares each color has (meaning that if the green team has 10 squares on the grid at the end of the game, their score is 10). Currently, the only way to check it by viewing the system history log. We planned to make it display each color's score on the board, but that would have taken an absurd amount of time to write that script, so we decided to omit that feature.
We've decided to postpone implementing that feature.
Would yall be interested in a race track that I may or may not still have? You could make it play however you wanted whether speed boost, a timer displayed somewhere, anything you want to do with it.

I'm glad it will be easier to do this.

Oddly enough, That has the illusion of being a 3D frustum type object. It's weird.

I prefer the old way. 90% of the time, you only want to quote the last post, and not all the baggage of previous posts, at least for me.

Any chance we can have a Non Nested and Nested Quote button?

That's why I suggested it only keep quotes directly from the person you're quoting. Because often times you lose context when people are using their responses in quotes, Or splitting a quote into many segments from different people.

Although I guess a button effectively solves this, As you only really need it occasionally.

There's not a really simple solution as to making nested quotes toggle on/off on a per post basis.

But I've come up with something better.

You know how when you quote somebody, but you're only replying to one specific thing out of a long post? Now you can just highlight the text you're replying to, click quote and it only copies that small bit of text over instead of the whole post, which you wind up going back and deleting anyways.

Example:

Spoiler for Hidden Content:

Clicking the quote button without highlighting any text will simply quote as normal. I think this is a good inbetween solution.

Noticed an immediate problem with this. It does not quote spoilers or images.

I'd imagine this applies to any BBC formatting.

Not intentional..but a nice bonus. People quoting images and/or giant text is a nuisance anyways. They're just going to have to do it the old fashioned way. if they really need to.
