Total Miner Discussion / [PC] Re: Total Miner: Forge PC Edition - Discussion

Super happy to see it got Greenlit. I'll be buying it day 1 and try to convince some of my pc only friends to get it.

And Craig, please. Don't let this end up like Castleminer. Take the time to make a good port instead of only putting in half the effort. Heck, it didn't even have resolution and key binding options at launch.

If I send it as a gift will that count?
Yes, as long as you spend money, it'll work.

DLC quest is $.98 right now. Might be a good idea to grab it before the sale expires.

Glad to see this finally getting some traction. Already said it on the Greenlight page, but I'll say it here.

Craig, Castleminer failed because it was a terrible pc port. Don't make the same mistake. Take the time to polish it, even adding basic features such as resolution size and rebindable controls. You have my full support, but please, don't rush it.

Ideas / Re: A monster that tracks you down.

Sounds like you're describing a spider.
Sorry, being afraid to play TM doesn't sound like fun to me.
Not exactly. You see, the difference between spiders and the monsters I described is that the monster can dig through rock layers. Not only that, but it's also passive when its not trying to go after the player.

You know, there actually is fun in being afraid. You know there's something out there, yet you have no idea where its going to come from.

Neither does that but anyways... yeah sounds like a good idea it would have to be extremely dangerous for it to cause us fear when we actually do come across one.
Much of the fear would come from that it could come from any direction. Imagine the consequences of it coming from underneath you.

I mean, the music that's already in the game can creep you out enough. That, combined with the noises the monster makes, would be enough to make anyone sweat through their clothes.

Earlier, my little brother and his friend started playing Total Miner for the first time. Before so, their friend told them that if they stay on the surface for a period of time, a powerful monster that digs through dirt would come and kill them. They spend the entire day gathering materials for a bunker to protect them. I told them it wasn't true, but it gave me an interesting idea.

How about in random rock layers, starting at 500 ft, one of these said monsters would spawn and dig through that layer. Only one of them would exist per layer and can only dig through the material the layer they spawned in has. It would wonder around aimlessly until it either encounters a player, or if a player spends an allotted amount of time in that layer, then the monster would go straight for them unless they retreat to another layer. They would leave a tunnel where ever they went that would disappear after a period of time. Once they were dead, they wouldn't come back unless physically spawned.

I think that it would give Dig Deep some intensity and fear. What do you guys think?

Place a liquid block and try to get it to flow into another liquid block. It will instead flow on top of it and flood the map.

This same thing happened on my world, except it was with water. My friend was trying to make a fountain, but you can guess what happened when he placed a bucket down. We're currently trying get to the bottom to examine the damage.

Well, whatever you do, DO NOT place a bucket of water or lava down. That will end up making searching not only scrolls harder, but everything else.
