DauntlessI must say...
What does "greenlit on steam" maen
- Is this going to be something appointed to someone, who will then make the trailer? Kind of like we are submitting our "resumes/CVs" to you in terms of previous video footage, and you are "hiring" one of us to make it?I think the first option is the fairest and most workable.
Or is it like a normal contest; everyone pitches in their best trailer and the winner chosen from the group receives the prize?
- Are there restrictions for the trailer in terms of copyright? I.e. can the trailer include songs that are not hosted on a royalty-free site, or can we put any song that our heart desires in the trailer? No copyrighted material can be used in the trailer.
Just want to make sure that we aren't breaking any rules in regards to "advertising" on Steam Greenlight.
- Are there specific game elements that you would want shown?I'm not sure yet. I expect there will be some discussion, but essentially, whatever makes the game as attractive as possible for greenlight.
I assume the big features like scripting, skills, different game types, creative tools, and day/night cycles would probably want to be highlighted, but is there anything you want emphasized? Perhaps more on the "look what the community has built, and you can too!!" as opposed to "look what features the game has!!" or a combination of both?
Is there a maximum length to the video, or will this be a grand long showcase of all Total Miner has to offer?I'll double check, but I suspect it will be around 2 minutes.
What is the highest skill requirement I will get thereall words in trailer must be spelled correctly so it looks professional.
all words in trailer must be spelled correctly so it looks professional.ok ill make sure of that lol i knew that ill pull a dictionary for this project
ok ill make sure of that lol i knew that ill pull a dictionary for this projectalso you might want to have a few of your friends go over it and make sure all grammar is correct as well. Use colors that complement each other if you color the different text. And do not use comic sans as it makes you look like a moron.
DauntlessMost definitely DAUNTLESS395
also you might want to have a few of your friends go over it and make sure all grammar is correct as well. Use colors that complement each other if you color the different text. And do not use comic sans as it makes you look like a moron.ill have widow look it over
Currently the only thing holding us back from trying to get Total Miner greenlit on Steam is lack of a good trailer video.
If anybody here is able to make us a high quality HD trailer or knows of someone who can, then please let me know via pm.
The person making the trailer will need:
Self reliance.
An HD capture card.
A high level of skill and creativity in editing videos.
Some previous work they can show us.
Access to some of TM's most exceptional creations.
A high level knowledge of the game.
We need an interesting, creative, high quality trailer to maximize our chances of getting greenlit asap. Obviously it will need to showcase the games best features.
Payment will be cash.
What does "greenlit on steam" maenFirst, its mean. Second it means that it is approved on steam.
then please let me know via pm.
...
Please do not go off and make a trailer without speaking to me first via pm.
To my understanding, you can post more than just 1 video to steam, other than the single necessary trailer. While I wholeheartedly agree that you should have at least 1 all-encompassing vid that showcases total miner as a whole, I would also think that having a few more videos that go more in-depth about certain aspects of the game (that players might not understand at first glance) would be good to keep in mind.Good call.
These are some of the things i would recommend being in it, I won't be attempting the trailer as i am new to the editing so would not be able to use many Lighting effectsand a short clip of 2 Steves in minecraft talking about how bored they are. Then we can have a second trailer that's like a political ad. "Minecraft only wants to go to Congress to fill his own pockets. Vote totalminer 2014"
-Day Night
-Skills
-Scripts
-Copy & Paste
-Online multiplayer/world listing (As not many PC games use this and require you to make a server to even play online)
-Show creation using lots of flowing water

Because of the xbox X and Y buttons at the bottom of the screen?

showing the online multilayer listings would not be allowed would it? Because of the xbox X and Y buttons at the bottom of the screen?most pc games are compatible with controllers now

Can I suggest setting a time range for how long the trailer should be? Personally I suggest 2-5 mins, not too short but not too long that the viewer loses interest.
i'm not a definite yes, but I'll work on one and when I'm done I'll post the video on my youtube channel BOBsCAST BOB and when or if you have time check it out. So for right now I'm going to get my crew together and we are going to make a legit trailer. :)Would only be a fan-made trailer unless you do what is mentioned in the OP.
First, its mean. Second it means that it is approved on steam. They already explained it to me. & regardless if I messed up you understood what I meant. /-:Steam is the home to thousands of downloadable games. That includes popular ones.
Currently the only thing holding us back from trying to get Total Miner greenlit on Steam is lack of a good trailer video. After you get a trailer, will TotalMiner be put on GreenLight? If yes, How many "would buys" would it need to be accepted?
Okay, I have one question...its for pc but i think they will be the same just ignore anything with a green A or red B or blue X or yellow Y as then it is oddvieus
- What edition of the game is this trailer gonna be used for? (PC, Xbox, etc.) If it's for the PC edition, wouldn't you need to have PC video to showcase, not footage of console gameplay? I say this because I've seen this happen quite a few times on Steam where games became very unpopular because they didn't show gameplay of the game THEY would be getting, not console people.
That's all, hopefully you get around to answering. :D Have a good one.

wouldn't you need to have PC video to showcaseThere's no point spending the time to do the port unless the games gets greenlit. It then makes sense to do a PC gameplay video ready for the PC release.
People have short attention spans!Craig already said around 3 minutes. Twice.
Just throw everything interesting into the game and keep it within 1 minuite.
The overwelming amount of stuff will just make the person think...
Wait, il watch that again.
The next time:
Ok im getting this now!
Craig already said around 3 minutes. Twice.Im just saying 1 minuite might make the trailer more purswasive.
Im just saying 1 minuite might make the trailer more purswasive.1 min would mean we can only put a few features in the trailer, the longer the trailer the more stuff we can put in it, 3 mins is the average time for a trailer like this in most cases.
Craig already said around 3 minutes. Twice.Around 2 minutes, once.
i have one question if total miner does get greenlit and does become available on steam how would multiplayer work would we have to port forward and host our own worlds and join by ip or would it all be server based and be able to join games like it is on xbox, because i have a problem with port forwarding and have to use hamachi to host my own games.
