WHAT IS DEAD ISLAND ?
 Dead Island is an upcoming zombie rpg that will put you to the test against the outbreak. Part of a marine environment operation, you and your team had been sent out to uncover the distress message from Palanai island. What was once a beautiful paradise is now hell; a deadly virus had triggered a zombie outbreak around the island. There's no turning back now due to the tropical storms sinking your boats. Survival is now in the hands of you and your fellow teammates to find an escape route. Hope is drowning.

NEWS / UPDATES *July, 10 2016
Hellololololol, man it's been a crazy few weeks; lot's of parties and events going on. Now that I have the time to spare, here's an update on what's going on. So recently I've finally got the new beach homes finished "Still got to do the interiors" !! Say goodbye to the old bland boxy homes; the new homes now have a more tropical vibe to them with a bit more geometry than the old homes. I absolutely loved doing the roofs of these beach houses thanks to the multi texture feature lol. I've been doing some planning lately and I was thinking about what should I put in the area "which was previous locked" that I'm expanding in. I decided about putting slum villa flats that extends into the ocean. This would demonstrate the diversity between the wealthy resort area and the hidden local natives that live in jungle villas which would be obscured by the highway that runs through. A side note, I've been starting a new youtube series called "Random world visits" where I would showcase a compilation of worlds I venture in. Think of it as a different addition to "World Hopping" lol. By the way, after around 3 years of being on the forums, I finally found a character that suits me haha. Now I may be known as "The girl with the crazy black and blonde bob hair" haha; it's like how lady lobo, for example, is characterized as a wolf or how Jack is a wizarrrd I think lolz. The underrated music artist Sia was a big influence; I've actually dyed/ styled my hair to fit her style. I've also noticed at some point where miners were confused how to pronounce my name lol. I know it's weird so it's basically pronounced "Shen-may" instead of something like "Zyan-may" or "Zean-may" haha. Now that we got some fun facts out of the way, that's it for now minerz. Stay safe this summer and if you're going into senior year in school, make the best of it !!!

Introducing: NIGHT GAMEPLAY
As the sun begins to set, the island goes under a terrifying transformation and a warning notification is set off. This ain't no zombie kill fest anymore, you are now in a horror game of stealth and survival. During night, vision is reduced greatly and the infected become stronger. If you think that's worst, a new threat awakens "The Volatile". Volatiles are one of the most vicious out of all infected. Once spotted by a volatile, you must run and hide. They can't be killed easily and will put on a chase. As stated before the best thing to do is run for your life and hide. Waiting out the night may be safe, but keep in mind that  chances of rare items being looted increases and rewards double. Are you up for the challenge ? Night gameplay is currently in beta and will only be active during testing phases requested by players in-game. Soon night gameplay will be fully active in the future.

I would actually love to see this, I think it'll be pretty epic once you get this going! If you ever need inspiration to keep you going, look up some zombie games and find some interesting features for people to enjoy!

Thank you for the Feedback , since my map got corrupted I'll have to work on a new concept , but don't worry . Most of the elements are similar and they are being improved on . I'm now using the Rupture HD pack and it really brings out the tropical vibe of the new Dead Island . I'll let you know when I'm ready to present
 version 1.4 .

Hello miners , while Dead Island is under development I've worked on 2 new posters.
Summer is getting close which means that development time will speed up.

So far , three enemies have been confirmed
- The Walker : A common enemy found around the whole island
                      Partially decayed and slow , but deadly in hordes
                     --------------------------------------------------------
- The Wrestler: A large broad infected who possesses the strength
                       of a bull . The wrestler is very dangerous as it
                        deals great amount of damage.
- The Floater : A moss covered infected that has the ability to spit
                      corrosive bile at a target. These unique infected
                       are usually found near water

That's not all the enemies that will appear in Dead Island

Good news everyone . This weekend , I expect heavy development to take place
I don't know why , but my creative energy is up to the max !!
Coming soon are 2 new concepts . And my map will be opened

.Due to story development , Dead Island will go under heavy revisions . Instead of starting directly in Henderson , you will now begin the journey at Palanai resorts . This is to help build the feeling of progress as you go farther in the main story . Henderson is now the climax center of Dead Island and will contain similar buildings , but different layouts .
Another objective is that I'm trying to find ways to make Dead Island have less flatness , this will help make exploring the island a bit more interesting. I can't promise that Dead Island will be finished in a jiffy , but I know that I am trying my best to give you miners 100% effort.

Xian-mei do you think you can tell us your gamer-tag and zone.

You said in a earlier post "keep an eye on the lobbies , you might spot "Dead Island"" but sadly the game dose not work this way. (I wish it did) you can not see the name of a world till you have visited it at least one time.

The only ways we have to find your world is to join random worlds 24/7 till we find a world named dead island or we have your GT and zone ( zone plays a part in who you find in a search. Example if a pro zone player searches for worlds than mostly pro zone players will show up.) so if we know who to look far and if we change ower zone to match yours we will be able to find you if you are hosting. If we don't know than it's  like trying to find a needle in a hay stack.

I would upload my gamertag on the forums ,but my email kind of prevents me because it's a bit buggy and weird.
Yes , the lobby will be under the name of "Dead Island" if it is out for a tour online . I don't know when I'll open the next tour sessions , maybe when I'm done filling the coastal resort bungalows . When it comes to ratings , the permission will be turned off for now since the map is in it's early stages . When there is a decent amount of detail and builds in Dead Island that I'm comfortable with , then I'll turn the adventure permission on .

Thanks for giving us your GT this will help us find you.

The zone we need to know is not the time zone but the game zone that you choose in your Xbox live profile. There are underground, pro, recreational, and family. 
I'm set at underground but if I need to find someone on something else like pro I will need to change my zone to pro.

Knowing the time zone is helpful as well. I to am in the central time zone but because I work a night shift I sleep during the day so I will get on over the weekends in the afternoon and stay on through the night.

I wouldn't say as close to finish , there's still lots to do . The future updates will also play an important role to the development of Dead Island so some things may be put to a halt . I will try my best to develop Dead Island through out summer . Another poster is in the making too , and plans for a trailer is on the check list .

Thank you for your support  ^-^ . It really means alot . It does take time modeling these buildings especially the inside details , but it's worth the time and effort.

Thank you for the feedback , it means lots and lots to me ^-^. I have scheduled to do lot's of building during the upcoming holiday breaks and I've been constantly playing the original Dead Island series , and Left 4 Dead
to construct my ideas on Dead Island:Total Miner Edition. A big post update is coming in the future , miners  ::) and I can't wait to reveal some new things. Stay tuned for more news miners  :-X

You will love this map. I enjoyed playing on it, er rather, touring it. She did a fine job doing the detail for the cabana suites, the beach, roads, shops, it's coming along so nicely. I truly hope this map gets finished and playable. :D

It's kind of getting there  ::) , but there's still lots to do. Honestly I haven't been active lately for various reasons to work on this map. I've started coming back during my week off and I've managed to do some touch ups such as placing barriers, polishing the highway buildings, adding abandoned vehicles, terraform some areas and some minor graphical details. Before I start moving on to the hotels/bars/bungalow part of the resort I need to work on some things such as reworking the spawn room, maybe implement night mechanics, and add in some books for detail/background of the island and the survivors. I have a 2nd trailer in mind, but we may probably see that early summer break  ;). When it is finished, Dead Island will be quite "big". If something happens for example: "Total Miner: xbox one edition" then I will be happy to rebuild Dead Island again if I we couldn't port our existing worlds.

I would also like to say "Thank you" for those who'd visited while I was developing my world this week. I find it surprising that players actually stayed for a while even though there's really nothing to do yet, but explore and mess with some zombies and the fact that the map is far from finished. It felt great getting msg feedback from visitors and again, thank you  ^-^ !!! I can't wait to progress further  8) :D ^-^

Thanks  ^-^ lol. I have all these ideas I want to include and I can't wait to build them. The quests and story will be worked on more, later cause' that's also an important factor and it kind of takes some time to think of since I'm not the best writter  ;) 8)

Usually I host open sessions from time to time. I decided to not host open sessions for now as this world isn't fully developed. At some point, I will open up sessions once the resort level is nearly finished which will give players more to explore since main quest hasn't been implemented yet. There's also a few other levels that are going to be included in the future.

Last I checked (and messaged) there is more to come. But it's slow coming right now. I believe Xian has other projects etc outside of this one.

Yes, it's true. I haven't been active lately on the TM community mainly because of school and all these events going on. I've also been preparing for a state art competion which I'm going to attend this upcoming weekend and it's really exciting. I'm now keeping things at low, so there may possibly be a big update soon  ;). Plus I also got a brand new custom built computer so if TM is available on pc then I'll be making a transition.

Hello miners, summer break recently began for me and I'm now back into business ! It's kinda crazy that I'm moving on to being a Senior in the next couple of months. Anyways, during my few last weeks of school I made duplicates of my map; one of them being the vanilla version and the other being the so called "Definitive version". I was also in the school talent show giving a performance over "Sia - Alive" on the last day of school and it was wild lol. Now coming back to topic, so I'm currently building on the "Definitive ver." of my map which is going to feature updated builds and some other neat stuff. For the most part I've cleared the coastal houses and the lifeguard station for improvements; so far I've managed to get the  new lifeguard station finished and one of the bungalows built, just need to do interiors but I may save that for last since I take my interiors into detail "very time consuming uhhhggg haha". It may be a slow week since 2 new games are coming out the upcoming weeks "Dead Island: definitive collection" and "Mirror's edge:Catalyst" !!!!!! omg !!!! I'll still be developing on my map in the meantime. I'm not sure when this huge project is going to be completely finished, but I'm sure it will be possible if TM is released on pc and has some kind of map porting system. It's going to be a bit chaotic trying to even budge in a new area since the resort level is quite big as it  already takes up nearly half of the top and bottom of the right map portion. The infinite world feature would be a BIG help if it's included in the PC version most likely. Recently I've been thinking about including guns  as an alternative weapon given in later stages. Before I go I have a question for y'all; since Dead Island isn't going to be fully playable for some time I've thought about developing easy linear maps with other miners like a Left 4 Dead styled map that would be fully playable. Do you think I should developed a L4D themed map along side with Dead Island ?

I think the next video is going to be another dev diary which will showcase the improvements and updated builds, I can't wait to work on the next beach area behind the station; I felt like putting small shops on the beach and water huts near the light house area.

Congratulations on becoming a senior, I just graduated high school a week ago and I already miss it, enjoy your time in high school now because you'll miss it after you graduate. Anywho I'm a huge supporter of this world and can't wait to see new developments that you fabricate for it.

This map sounds like it's coming along nicely. Can't wait to see what you do with bungalows, especially regarding the interiors.
The bungalows will look more fitting with the tropical setting since they don't look like huge cubes lol. I have to plan out the water variants though. I'm probably gonna use photos as reference such as this below.

You know, I always pronounced it "ʒɒn meɪ" If you don't know IPA, The character that looks like a 3 sounds like the g in beige or the s in vision.
The upside down a is like the o in John.

And the eI sounds like the ay in bay.

I find it funny how I played her when I played Dead Island (Sharp weapons ftw!) and yet I had her name wrong. XD


BTW, The white wolf is Lobo's spirit animal. People either identify me as one of my Demons, Or a Thief.

Just stopping by for a short update. Over the course of two months I've made some pretty neat additions which are coming out pretty great. I said it a couple of times,but I love the new houses lol. They just blend in with the area a lot more than the old versions. Besides the houses I've worked on another beach area behind the quarantine zone, filling in details and laying out the basics for the water huts. I've also been working on new areas which won't be revealed until future posts hehe  ;) :-X . For now, I'm going to keep quiet on the updates on Dead Island. I've pretty much hinted towards a major update post lol  ^-^. This is the last "news update" just for this year, but I'll still be active around the forums and may possibly make new total miner videos. I would enjoy making a 2nd "Random world visits" video, it just depends which maps are being hosted. Anyways hope you guys had a great summer !!!!
