Title: Dark Souls
Post by: K1ngpwn02 on May 29, 2013, 07:44:38 PM
I'm thinking about getting it because it's on sale for 10 bucks right now on the marketplace. I've heard it's really hard, which I can take (and I sort of like ^-^), but is it repetitive? Also, is the combat good?

When I got the game, I thought similarly to you, that it's hard and will be more challenging, I have never died so many times in one game before, ever...

From somebody that has over 300 hours of game time on it, get it. The combat is pretty cool but could use some tuning (backstabs). Just to let you know the game is a lot funner with a friend.

The best thing to do when you first start up is shank the guy crouched around the fire. He'll only betray you in the end, might as well get it over with......

I've never played it but one of my best friend loves it. He's always saying I should get it, so I guess that's high praise coming from him since he complains more than anyone else I know.

I got this game in the Xbox winter sale and must say although I die like once at least every 10 minutes I'm hooked! it's such a challenging game which is good when you finally think up a method to kill various OP enemies, apart from falling off ledges so easily and the idea of being cursed to the point of 6% health I can't flaw it, was wondering if anyone on Xbox plays it as pretty much everyone on my friends list is hooked on CoD or GTA still...

magic is great. My curved sword swings really fast, and magic makes it do over 600 extra damage per hit.

is there much diffrince other then looks? and minor state diffrinces?

the guide said to grab a spear and then after words start building it up and also go into some sort of magic arrow thingy. XD ^_^

I got the DLC for this game not too long ago and decided it would be better off to start the game all over again rather than beat Ornstein and Smough on NG++. So it looks like I'm dying endlessly with you guys. Today I beat Quelaag, Sif, and the Iron Golem. Now it's time to face the trials of Anor Londo. TAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRKKKKKUSSSSSSS!

no offense... But that's a horrible plan as spears are kinda bad once you get past the first area.

no offense... But that's a horrible plan as spears are kinda bad once you get past the first area.

"My recommendation would be to use a spear (really easy for PvE, you can hide behind a shield and poke from far away; grab the spear from the merchant in the berg for 600 souls) and high stability shield. Upgrade the spear to +5 asap, then +10, then pick up the lightning spear in sen's, upgrade to enchanted, or use the moonlight butterfly horn.

When you first start, make sure u can use the spear (10 str 11 dex), then add 1:1:1 vit, end, and int until everything is ~20, then get int to ~50, then go back and pump vit till 40. You should finish the game before you finish getting your vit up.

Get as many iterations of soul arrow as you can. I think you can get 3 (or 4, if you start as a sorc) per playthrough. If you get too many, bump your attunement up for more slots. 16 or 19 are good numbers to stop at here.

By the time you hit Anor Lando you should have three copies of soul spear, two copies of greater soul spear, a copy of heavy soul spear and greater heavy soul spear. This gives you ~150 casts every time you touch a bonfire. The normal ones will eat normal enemies, even through shields, and the heavy ones will rip bosses apart in a few casts.

Look for two major items: bellowing dragoncrest ring, and crown of dusk.

Once you get to dukes and run that quest chain, you now have crystal spells and the TCC. Save your crystal casts w/ tcc for big enemies and bosses. I have beaten S&O with two casts of crystal soul spear before.

With dragoncrest, crown of dusk, red tearstone, and TCC w/ 50 int, you can one-shot the final boss of the game with some spells."

is the suggestion I found ^_^

thats always been a part of the game, its why it is difficult :P

and as for the ghosts, it is showing you what other players are up to, and how they died. i can come in handy in situations like an ambush, you click a blood stain, and you see how the other player died.

i honsilty never heard any oen mention it once, nor have ever seen it mentioned once in any guide or talk of it XD
that so far is littrly all that's hard about this game XD

as rto the other players thing, the blod stains don't do much for me, i only see the persons body i don't see an animation fo hwo they died?

the spear sucks at boss fights and against later enemies. Also the master key is really helpful in alot of spots. If you want to poke from behind  a shield I would recommend a halberd, preferably one with a good slashing attack. If not silver and black knights will be a huge pain for you, as well as the anor londo giants, lizardmen, drakes, and most bosses.

magic is my main forum of attack, the spear is mearly back up agaisnt single weaker enemys. i am supsied to upgrade it, to +5 then +10, tho i have no idea how.

as to the master key, i got to use it on 2 doors so far, one gave me acces to some neat little gems that make my wepaon lighting. the other lead into some odd tower, i went down it and after a while i came across soem odd lookign guy in huge armor. had a 2h swrod bigger then me, guy one shoted me with my sheidl up XD never seen him before, sure wont be going back XD

as to the silver knight, i think thats the guy guarding the blue gem ring in the first undead town, i slughtered him using magic (and a lot of me abusing the fact he cant climb ladders XD).

speaking of magic, how do i get more of it? i only have 30 shots for my soul arrow, and it tends to go quickly. i needs more! XD ^_^

was doing good last night, i keep on getting 4 humanity (before i mess up somewhere and need to restart). tho i am unsure of how i keep on getting th e4th one, 3 are for sure form item pick  ups, i have no idea how i end up with the 4th.

last night i was doing well, then i got killed by the huge armor guy with the big black 2h sword. not an issue, ran back, got into a tower to kill an archer, ran back down, 3 skellys cam out of no where and did that darn slice and dice attack, was able to back up and was abotu to heal when somehow the oen skelly attacked me littrly threw the wall XD so cheap XD ^_^

anywho, i love this game, and sucks i didnt bother to play it before XD ^_^

cool havint made it that far yet sadly.

also who was that huge guy in armor and huge 2h sword at the bottom of a tower? was that the black knight you mentioned??

Edit: i just googled a black knight for dark souls, that was not the guy who killed me, he was in much bigger fatter armor, and had a huge 2h sword, no shield.

he was under a tower i had to use the master key for to open, he was at the bootm of it in the undead burg, i saw another door near him.

his name is havel. His moves are predictable and he is an easy kill if you have 10 minutes of free time dedicated to backstabbing him. His weapon is the dragon tooth. His armor is great and you can get it later.

black knights are elsewhere, and silver knights are all over anor londo, but no where else.

ahh i see so hes a spicale guy that makes sense, i wonder if i can lesh him to a more open area. would be easy to kill him if i had more room.

as to silver knights there is one in undead borg. he guards a neat ring that gives me more def when my hp is low. hes easy to kill since i can lesh him over to an area where he cant figuer out how to climb ladders. ^_^

the post I had for the spear thing was completely seprate form the guides, the gudies only tell of the areas and mobs, not classes or what not.

again I have zero issues with the spears so far, and thing I cant kil with it I will break in half with magic ^_^

have you been to blight town? I tried spears once and that's where they stopped working. And trust me.. Magic isn't a valid way to kill stuff as you go on. You'll run out of magic before you get through some later places, and some bosses and enemies resist it. Like the crystal golems or seeth the scaleless

you should be hitting it anytime now. Its one of the first areas you get to, where the second bell is.

so there was a patch today................and things got crazy >.>

few things I noticed right away, they drown you in humanity now in the start of the game. got one for the first boss and 3 form the first corpse when you get to loderion instead of the one (also got 2k souls instead of 1k).

um idk for sure, but I had a hell of a lot harder time killing the first boss now, he seemed to attack a LOT faster now.

o best part is they changed the way blood stains work now. its nto where you die any more, its in the begging or end of an area. exp the skelly area right next to where the crow lands you. I died in it about mid way and was horrified to see my blood stain now alllllllllllll the way in the back of the place. like wise I got ambushed by the skelly another time (after getting the hidden stuff on the cliff). and died at the stairs to the water pool, was surprised to find my blood stain no where near it and instead at the start of the stiars for the skelly place..................this is gona suck.

edit: forgot to mewntion humanity gives a TON more item find now too. used to be 120 for having 1, now its 150 for having 1

I think 4 used to be 129, I now have 173 for having 4. woot woot items!

edit2: also some mobs give a lot more souls now, the zombie knights used to give me 50 souls, now they give me 80 souls :O!

edit3: (this time its personal! lol) finding a lot of signs I never saw before ether. XD

Version 1.06

PVE Changes

Increased enemy HP (more detail needed)
New Crystal Golem in The Duke's Archives drops only Blue Titanite Chunk if Additional Content not installed
Corpse located by well in Firelink Shrine now carries 3 Humanities
Darkmoon Soldiers in Dark Anor Londo no longer respawn when killed

Specific Gear Changes

Dark Wood Grain Ring effect fixed; now only activates at 25% equip load and below rather than 50%
Hornet Ring critical increase reduced from 50% to 30%
Mask of the Father effect reduced to 5%
Mask of the Mother effect reduced to 10%
Mask of the Child effect reduced to ~33.3%
Rapier and Spear attacks while shielding takes more stamina
Two-handed Greatsword R1 recovery between swings increased. The swings themselves are still the same speed. One-handed attacks are unchanged.
Homing Crystal Soulmass and Homing Soulmass damage reduced (needs confirmation). The glitch is also fixed where if you were an invader it would target you sometimes instead of the host. causing the soulmass to become useless.
Non-scaling upgrade paths Chaos, Lightning and Fire reduced by ~10%
PC and Xbox can now port-forward to reduce online lag.
Elite Knight set fixed; its poise is now 46 in the NA versions
Eagle Shield physical damage reduction is now 95%
All roll speeds (except for Ninja Flip) buffed. They are now faster and possibly have greater invulnerability frames (needs confirmation only medium roll is confirmed to be faster).

Elite Knight set fixed; its poise is now 46 in the NA versions
Eagle Shield physical damage reduction is now 95%
All roll speeds (except for Ninja Flip) buffed. They are now faster and possibly have greater invulnerability frames (needs confirmation only medium roll is confirmed to be faster).

I kind of like that they upped the Humanities on the dead body at the Firelink Shrine. And the Crystal Golem drop, some folks don't have Aota and need SOME decent drop from killing it. :)

I should probably explain the patch that was released. You see due to a bug the Dark Souls that you downloaded from the games with gold was actually the unpatched version. Everybody playing on the disk version was already updated to the latest version. Now weather or not this stopped you playing with the people who were up to date I have no idea but now we should all be playing the same game. Sorry I didn't tell you sooner.

I LOVE MAGIC on there. I have the expansion Aota, and the Dark Magics are SICK! Granted, sometimes the spell sails over the assailants head. but in Dark Souls 2, they find their mark 99% of the time. :)

You should definitely invest in Homing Soulmass, Homing Crystal Soulmass. And then for Dark Magic try to get Dark Orb, Dark Bead, and Pursuers. That is, if you are a pure offensive magic user. Otherwise there are other alternatives. And Logan's Catalyst is a great Catalyst to use. And Manus as well, there is a draw back with that one but it can also be used as a melee weapon.

Okay perfect, Agy. Just stick with those for now starting off. DEFINITELY get that Soul Spear when you can, try to play through ALL of Logan's story. That's how you get all of the magics in the normal story mode(Not Aota) You should be fine. ^_^ Just let me, or others know if you need any help with it. I use all styles of combat on there, and have beaten it so many times. lol But by far my favorite, is magic. :3

my mage had 30 soul arrows, 20 great soul arrows, 12 heavy souls arrows, 8 great heavy soul arrows, 10 homing soulmasses, 4 soul spears and 4 crystal soul spears... I barely took down seeth the scale less after using everything except for homing soulmass, and using 5 homing soulmasses. That tangerine was scary to face as a mage.

Well, if ya want to be a healer type to definitely get up your DEFINITELY ge tup your faith. A Mage/healer on Dark Souls is actually quite deadly. You're fast (due to no armor) can penetrate most armors with magic(so you essentially hit HARD), AND you can heal(due to Miracle abilities). Not a bad way to fight, Agy. :)

i shoudl have said healer/and or magic. XD ^_^

not goign for faith stuff right now.

my plan was to build my charictor with 20/20/20 vit end int, then push int to 50, then bring vit upto 40. in thery i will have beaten the game before i get vit to 40.

stick with a spear for now, then move onto a lightign spear, then moonlite butterfly. as both should vl with my int.

use 3-4 iterations of soul arrow. and use heavy soul arrow and what ever the more powerful version is.

i think theres more stuff too but thats what i remmber off hand ^_^.

Yeah yeah sure, that's a good way to start! However, DO NOT push those skills over 50. Especially Int for your magic. After 50 the stats BARELY move as far as damage per hit. So stick with medium high stats, otherwise you will waste levels and exp on stuff that does NOTHING for you.

So for the spear, do you mean the physical melee spear or the miracle spell? Because if it's the miracle spell, you'll need Faith for that. ><
The more powerful versions of the normal soul stuff is Crystal. And Soul Arrows stronger counter part is Soul Spear. :)

Well so far, not bad. This could be a vicious magic user. ^-^

that would exp why not over 50 XD

so far at 20 int i one shot every mob except havel and bosses.  so i am happy ^_^

my understandign was i use reg spear for now, then when i can buy it i buy the lightening spear, and then get my hands on moonlite butterfly spear. both lighting and moonlite use my int for damage.

Because skills over 50 never boost your attack, resistance, health, etc much higher. Basically you'd be wasting souls on nothing. So 50 is the max I go on almost any skill really.

Wait till you get the Dark Magics. They hit SUPER hard and can nearly one hit a lot of enemies on the first play through. Sometimes on the second play through as well.

Okay so you aren't using the spear miracle spells lol Alright, perfect! Yeah stick with that. The moonlight butterflies soul is used with the spear to create the Moonlight spear. You just need to bring it with you to the Giant at Anor Londo. He's the guy to talk to about making those beastly weapons.

I used to merc my characters out to folks who needed help beating him. :) But that's understandable. Another good way of beating him is learning his moves and (practice first!) trying to riposte his attacks. Or backstab him A LOT with buffs. Also, falling on his head is a good way to do it to. Tons of ways, you just have to be careful.

I made him my archenemy on my first character. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but he was an easy kill right after. Also he dies in like 3 lightning spears. But he only takes like 5 percent of magic damage.

learn his moves and back stab him for 10 minutes. That's what I usually do.

Also you should ignore the advice to get your weapon to +10. Instead get it to +5 then acend it to magic, then get it magic +5 and ascend it to enchanted.

Yes, depending on your style of combat is how you'd level your weapons. DEFINITELY get Enchanted for magic damage. It will scale with your Int skill to decide your damage. VERY effective.

When you get up to the over-look with Solair of Astora, you will see that long pathway to the gate where the drake is perched. Essentially, what you need to do is remove any heavy gear on you and BOLT down the bridge. To your right is a staircase, you have to be quick about this. When you get there, try to jump down or any other means of getting to the bottom of the stairs. You may get hit by the dragon fire, don't worry. Most people can survive the blast. Just keep going until you get down the stairs. THEN BAM! You are safe. Go to the hall to your left and kick down the ladder. Be careful not to fall before kicking the ladder down. That's your shortcut.

Actually you did, my advice is still valid for this moment. After you killed the Taurus Demon, you should have ended up there once before. (The place I mentioned above) Other wise, use the bottom part of the tower with the black knight in it to cross UNDERNEATH the bridge. Going past Rats and some Hollows. THEN You essentially bypassed all of that difficult part. To your right after you crossed the under-bridge is the SAME hallway mentioned earlier. Simply kick the ladder down and done.

you can completely skip the gate shortcut if you go down the tower, past havel, and into darkroot basin. There's ramp up into darkroot forest , then go to the undead parish.

or you can wait at the bridge until the drake jumps, and as soon as you see him start to jump run past him.

or you can use the room and passageway under the bridge to get up to the undead parish. They all lead to the same place.

I got past it by forcing it to jump by shooting it with an arrow from the safe area on either upper side of the bridge, then running around it. I did take damage, almost enough to kill me, but I survived. :P

or you can wait at the bridge until the drake jumps, and as soon as you see him start to jump run past him.

or you can use the room and passageway under the bridge to get up to the undead parish. They all lead to the same place.

ireoncikly i went into darkroot today, those cryistal guys are brutal XD, but i can kill them ^_^. saw a wombo sized hydra, didn't go near it.
made my way up the ramp on the left, killed a gem lizard woot woot. found the entrance to another area, some kinda garden didn't go in.
went down the ramp this time and found a silverknight, i think i can kill him if i try.

i really just want to get the gate open so i can easly get to the bonfire right there next to iron pig
i might try the run by him thing, tho I'd rather not do a dead 2x and lose all my humanity XD

I got past it by forcing it to jump by shooting it with an arrow from the safe area on either upper side of the bridge, then running around it. I did take damage, almost enough to kill me, but I survived. :P

i did try that, the moment i did it it seemed like right away he was on th bridge ether spaming his fire or his tail attack XD

Hydras are actually really easy if you can get close enough. I just fought my first one with a friends help. Everything is easier an more fun if you're doing jolly cooperation! :D

I was thinkin gof that, but 100 large arrows is 5k souls :O! and I heard the drake regans hp?

anywho, I beat the silver knight I was talking about under the cliff that leads to the gardens.

got a crappy sheild form a body too XD

was supriused to disvocer that the silver knight guarded a bonfire and a short cut. I thougth maybe it was the short cut back to the place the crow drops you off, I got off the elevator and was horrfided to see giant blue drake mobs just everywhere, I idnt even try to go near them XD!!!

any who for giggles I went back to the red drake and tried the get under him thing, I didn't even need to shoot him to get him down and I ran like crazy past him, ironcikly it worked and I made it! ............only to find out he spams his fire attack XD. got hit a few times but was able to make it into the back behind the statue and he flew off, letting me get to the bonfire there, opening the gate short cut!!! and also grabing the 2 bodys under him, was just a 800 souls and a claymore.

any who, go team agy!!! ^_^

there are a few ways. Most involve killing the choas bug through the door, although I think you can run through the lava and open the door from the other side before you kill the bed of choas

hay guys i have a question about game play.

i am at the point now where i go basickly into the swewers. the place where you go after you get the key form the demon who has the 2 hounds you fight. the entrance to it is right at the short cut you take to get to the female undead merc. any who, i read that if i am human that i can start to fight a speiucale enemy that will onyl show up if i am human, and if i beat him all 3 times i get his armor.

i was wondering if its worth it to become human now. i know that it leaves me open to high lvs coming in and kickign my butt. but i kinda want to do eveyr thign i can do. as i do love this game very much.

so is it now worth it for me to becoem human? and if so what other things do i need to be carful of??

thank you ^_^

o i also found out the deal on the wombo sized hydra. aparintly he guards the entrance to the dlc i got for the game ^_^

Well, if you don't want to risk being invaded, play in offline mode. I'm human most o the time, so why not play with a little risk? ;) if you're human, you could always summon random players to help you out and be a meat shield. ::) So, I'd say go human and go for that armor!

i'm thinkign that. i think i am honsitly pretty geared out for where i am in the game. sure theres more powerful melee wepaons i coudl use, btu they need higher str then i have, and i am a mage after all.
my armor is best i can get my hands on and is reinforced as much as i can with the mats i have acces too. and my spells are silly powerful (greater heavy soul arrow sluatered the last boss i fought). but i emagien pvpers invading me would all be max lv and silly powerful. and i kinda like my humanity XD. but i guess i coudl alswyas play off line.

when i become human, what happens with invasions? do i get a ntoice of it? where does the person show up? are they gona magickly show up next to me or in the same area? how easy is it for them to find me when they show up? do they have any other way then visusale sight to find me? besides getting kmilled by them what can i do to help get ride of them??

also is there any effect on the games story by me becoming human?

Regarding invasions, you will be notified if a player does invade you. They will appear in a random location in the area you're at. There's only two ways I've seen to force an invader out. Killing them, or Starting the boss fight. And don't worry about maxed out invaders, because you can only be invaded by people lower than you, and about 10 levels ahead of you. And the only benefit of humanity I've seen is to be able to summon NPC's and players to help you. As far as I can tell, no difference in story.

One last thing. You can't be invaded if you've already beaten the area boss. So for example, if you beat the Bell gargoyles, no more invasions are possible in The Parish.

You can be invaded wherever you can place white soapstone. As long as the boss is still alive. So if there is no boss, no invasion.

No, He saying if you are able to place a white soap stone down in the area, they can invade, however if you kill the area boss you can not place the white soap stone and therefore can not be invaded

You can still place the sign down if you beat the boss. It's more like wherever coop is possible, so is invasion.

I had a really good run today. I started off by killing Seath but unfortunately I didn't get the Moonlight Greatsword even though I killed him with only tail hits. After that I moved onto the Four Kings. Me and Witch Beatrix got overrun very quickly but after she fell to the Abyss I managed to pull through and slay the previous tenants of New Londo.

With only one soul to go I moved onto Nito. Usually I save him til last due to his difficultly but this time was different. I actually came prepared for once. Using my +5 Divine Man Serpant Sword I took down his skeleton cronies. Then after switching back to my Zweihander the fight became a cakewalk.

Now I'm grinding on Black Knights so I can prepare for Artorias, Manus and Kalameet. I might have to reactivate Gold so I can PvP a little seeing as I won't be killing Gwyn.

There a shortcut, once you're in the sewer section where it goes to either blight-town or the boss room, there another doorway in that section that leads to a room with the ladder, go up it and you will be behind some boxes near the bonfire.

You need to kill the maggot with the glowing red eyes on the other side of the door. It's the only one that doesn't respawn. Just killing it should save him but why wouldn't you pick up the drop.

beat the plauge dragon on the first go ^_^! i even got his tail wepaon too ^_^, was hialaurs seeing him trying to use his tail aatack with no tail XD!!!!

then the real fun started, i went out and returned to the undead asylam, was greated by 2 black knights who i beat up. got the iron ring (i can now luagh at blight town).

then the coolist hardist most intense boss battle i have done yet started, the styria demon :O!!

You need to kill the maggot with the glowing red eyes on the other side of the door. It's the only one that doesn't respawn. Just killing it should save him but why wouldn't you pick up the drop.
I just used poison mist, so the door is still closed. :P

stray demon is easy. As a sorcerer you should have had fall control. And if you learn his moves he's extremely easy to dodge and he just kinda twerks. Make sure to get the strange doll from your starting cell.

it wasint an issue, when you fall if your fast enough you can not agro him, then hide and cug a single potion and your good to go, if you get hurt again during the fight your doing it wrong so no need to worry. ^_^

and yes I got the doll ^_^

onword to blight town to farm leeches for large shardes XD ^_^

my understanding is I got 2 ways to go, the master key way and reg way, both of witch have there own set of items, so natruly I am gona go both ways lol ^_^

tho I may by the anti posion ring XD ^_^

o hay quick question if any oen knows it. in the area you kill the hydra at, theres 2 ladders going up, it leads to the garden, but the area it droped me off in is an area I never have seen before in the garden and it looked like there were mobs I have not seen before too? whats up with that area??

Alright, I think I'm doing pretty well on my first play through. I have defeated 3 of the 4 bosses where I get lot souls from. All that's left in the game for me is Nito and Gwyn. Before I fight Gwyn though, I'm going to go on a big loot searching adventure, scouring every corner for loot I don't have. Then I'm gonna level lots of gear up. :3

Erm, yeah. Usually spells get stronger by how high your magic stats are but the Pyromancy Spells get stronger based on how high you upgrade the glove. Also Raw is good for when you need power quickly. I didn't have the right embers so I couldn't ipgrade.

Ah, I take it you want the Red Titanite Slab? There's one in Lost Izalith but to trade the pyromancy flame with snuggly you have to ascend it. Also I don't think you can get another one unless someone from another game gives you theirs.

Before you go for that final boss fight, you should start leveling the poop out of your gear in preparation for NG+

Killed Gywn.
One of the worst bosses iv'e faced, 2 hits and you can't stop to heal without him chargin at you and killing you,

However started NG+, Alot easier then i thought it would be, Killed Demon at first encounter in 3 hits, Killed gargoyle and the moonlight butterfly, and just finished killing sif (120k Souls for killing sif, Ohhh yeah!)

so I am on my way to blight town, went the master key way and got all the gear there, only pita part was the blow dart guys. but I took care of them. didn't die once ^_^

...........then I went the depth route to get the gear form there.......................er ma gawd, I have died some maybe 20+ times now XD about 9/10 of my deaths have been form me simply falling off stuff XD (sadly I lost 30+ humanity :( ). latterly fall over the dumbest things, some times I roll backj and fall off, other times I go to get around a mob and fall off XD. I think 2 times I got pushed off.

doesint help its pitch black and for some reason the game is studdering like crazy. I don't get how tho. its like it goes form 60 fps down to maybe 10 fps in some of the areas. its exstreamly annoying, cuppled with it being so dark, and it means agy falls a lot XD

I made it to the first bon fire going the dpeths route, got a lot of the items including the ninja set and that insanely out of the way humanity XD. irclered around back to the bon fire and am ready to keep on going XD ^_^

o also............did I complty mess up my game by getting the witch killed?? I found the one guy I got out of prision sitting near here laughing, he gave me a token of some sort, I got back there latter and shes dead and hes gone..............with me standing around with a 2nd fire link thingy.........dang it

also whats with the clerica guy near the firelink shrin? I saw he had his friends with him, then they all dispaered, and now hes back crying that there all dead. did I mess something up???

Hehe, Got invaded twice in the depth, (3 if include kirk)

And turns out im not that bad :P, Killed them all in 3-4 secs, Homing Crystal SoulMass + Crystal Soul Spear and moonlight great sword makes short work of invaders.

Also During my NG+ noticed been killing bosses in wierd order,

Asylm demon.
Gargoyle's.
Quelaag'.
Sif.
Moonlight butterfly.
Dragon in the depths.

No. Don't worry you can solve your predicament but you have to make it to Anor Londo first. Also DO NOT USE YOUR LAST FIREKEEPER SOUL.

tyvm steve I will be sure to keep it ^_^

whens a good lv to use the item so I can invade the guys world and kill him??

o also I am still in blight town........minding my own buinees. wqhen suddenly I get invaded 2x XD (3x if you count the maneater npc invasion XD).

first battle i had a good laugh, since I was in full pyro outfit and had posion risit ring on with iron ring, I hide in the swamp as he tried to find me, about 10 mins went on with himn trying to find me, finaly he does (he even sent me a meassage asking me where I was.......like I was gona tell him XD). o I found something that really pisses me off. I didn't realaize that when someone invades that EVERY SINGLE mob ignores them, but they still og after me, that's bull**** :( . anywho, the guy was wearing armor I didn't recognize and used a club and pyro magic, my single heavy greator soul arrow took out half his hp XD. then I beat the crap out of him with my +10 spear XD

anywho I was running along not yet recovred and maneater shows up, lucky she was easy to kill.

then my greatest pvp battle yet happened. I got back to the bon fire in the water outlet and rested up, next thing I know it says someone else invaded.....................someone with insane hp and def. had on armor and wepaons I didn't know. my greater heavy soul arrow only hit him form behind for less then 1/4 his hp >.>  all seemed lost.............

enter "agys insanely stubern" for the next HOUR I screwed with him. that's not a exsageration, it latterly went on for an HOUR. I kept on getting himt to chase me around the circal above the bonfire. for a full hour XD. sometimes he would trip and I would whale on him with spells (I got 5 atunment slots now ^_^). there where a cupel times he would mess up and I would get him down to half hp. but then he would run away and try to goaud me out of the tunnel. I didn't fasll for it. sadly eveyr time he came back with full hp. this happened some silly amount fo times, I wasint sure how he was doing it, then I finaly cvuaght him using the clerical heal spell that basterd XD.

narturly he was getting angry at the fact that he coudlent lay so much as a hit on me for a full hour, so the normal emails of calling me a "niger" and such followed (of coruse after the battle I reported him). I was aculty gona text him and tell him good fight for putting up with me for a full hour, but when I saw all the name ccalling I just reported him instead. of coruse my stubernness won out, after a full HOUR the box saying he left poped up. I rolled around on my bed for a few mins laughing at it all XD!!!!

I do love this game ^_^

Well it seems like that is where I am heading to now. So today I have killed Pinwheel which he didn't seem like a boss at all. xD Tomb of the Giants was a pain at first, not knowing where I was going until I found a Skull Lantern which made things 10x better. Than got to Gravelord Nito, first attempt he was just killing me with his spikes from a distance. xD 2nd time I got better, than on about my 6th attempt I killed it. :D Now I've gone to New Londo Ruins, killed some ghosts, spoke to this guy who gave me a key, mentioned the four kings. I've cleared the water below, got to the next white light.

I will be carrying on with this when I get back. :P Hopefully when I get back from holiday, I shall find the Four Kings and kill them easily. ::)

EDIT: I played a little more, got to a new white fog, it was nothing but a spiral staircase going down into nothing. ._. That was a waste of my time unless I'm missing a secret wall or something.

so I tried killing the hellkite today. I can get it down to a little under 1/4 its hp pretty easly. the problem is it starts to do this sweep attack with fire that I cant block and even if I make it to the sides where you can hide from the flame normaly it still hits you and knocks you down even if your blocking with high pose. so my best guess is to just go get better flame resist armor, idk XD

o also I found out the hard way elevators don't reset if you die.......by plunging to my death form firelink to the dpeths and yet again losing 30+ humanity XD

but its ok now, I got a good place to get humanity at now, that would be even better if I had that dang item find ring XD ^_^

once I get 30 humanity again (31 so I can go human) I can go take on the blight town boss ^_^

so no one told me sif would be so cute :( i felt so bad having to kill him :(

i did die the first tiem fightign him, i made the mistake of trying to cripple him with my spear. he doen got me.

2nd time i just layed into him with magic. it became brutaly easy to just keep enough distance to get off even greater heavy soul arrows at him with out taking a single hit to my hp.

atm i am lv 60 with 40 int ^_^. idk when i am gona push it to 50, but i am at some point.

atm i am still running around with my +10 spear, and +5 blader sheild. and i am enjoying the gold trim witch armor, not only becuse it looks cool but its a light armor so i am fast, and it has silly high resists. ^_^

next time i play i go into seths fortress ^_^! to da iron gloem! ^_^

if you do the DLC first, Sif will recognize you when he punces, and he'll think about not fighting you, but ends up doing so anyways. Sif and Atorias are two of the bosses i just didnt really want to fight. They're both good characters.

snake guys gave me soooooo much truble at first, i got them now easy but wow that was a huge diffrince :O!

lol i cleared all big demons on the bottom lv, got there wepaon! ^_^ killed the giant outside. killed the first mimic and got the silly powerful lighting spear ^_^, my new fav wepaon ^_^

had a lot of intresting times going threw the bolder nonsense. really hate that the thign resets XD

died more times then i care to mention becuse i didnt realzie that the arrow traps reset when i die. also lost 100k+ souls the one time when i walked acroos the very top walkway with the pendulums. ironcikly its becuse i got hit by a snake mages lighitng arrow........from a very odd angle. was sooooooooo pissed. so i get to spend another 30 mins farming XD i had so many becuse i wanted to buy stuff form the merchant there :O!

also i freed big hat mage. got all his spells now ^_^, zomg soul spear is so silly over powered XD, it does 1.5x the damage of greater heavy souls arrow, but its insta cast XD

anywho i hope to farm back those souls i lost >.>, then buy stuff and beat up iron gloem ^_^!!!

its sen's fortress, sif is a completely different character altogether.

the iron golem can be solo'd by the white phantom you can summon without your help. You can also easily get him to fall off the edge.

anor londo is an interesting place, careful not to get knocked off.

painting? Did you find the painted world?

I'm pretty sure your character is magic based, so I'd say raise attunement until you can use all the magic you want, then focus on vit and end. My personal thought, at least. :P Maybe go a bit in strength to have back up tank weapons handy?

yea thats why i got 16 str now, so when i get it i can use it one handed ^_^.

yea i saw it has a "S" ranking for int i think, and yea with my 50 int i will probly use it more then magic XD

as it is i aculty use my lighting spear +3 (i dont have the chuncks to make it higher yet). more then my magic. granted agaisnt bosses i use magic, and agaisnt tuff enemys liek those dang sentinals (who i one shot with 50 int). but yea using melee more now, also spears are just 4tw as far as i am concered.

as to getting the great sword i am not near seath yet i think. as far as i know my path is to finish anor (am done the painting and killed the cute boss :( ), then i go back to fire link and revive the keeper there. then i go to Ash Lake. idk after that.  the paitning was brutal XD, but a lot of fun ^_^ lot of cool uniqe enemys and just amazing scenory. well worth it even tho its just optional ^_^
i still felt terrable for killing the boss tho :O!

you get a few uses and lasts for over a minute. And putting an extra few points into attunement is better than putting close to 20 into strength.

Also your in my range so if you ever want to team up with my mage ill help you through some of the bosses

compelty honist, i ran into the room and ran to the boss, only to turn around and see she was trying her hardist to run full speed threw the white light away form the boss.

i had to consitly tag the boss and lead her to with in mer inchs of her to get the dang npc to so much as look at the boss.

any time i would tag the boss agin after the npc got its attention i would have to once again leash it back to the npc becuse all she would do is try to run away form the boss.

it got to the point where i just forgot about her and soloed the boss dispite her being in the room with me.

this didnt happen once ether iot happend 2x as i died the first time becuse i didnt relaize the npc was not with me XD ^_^

I discovered in my travels with the pendant in my inventory that after you go through the whole game trying to find out what it means you fall into a deep, endless abyss of chronic frustration, major depression and then you kill yourself and that's the true meaning.

Also i'm not 100% sure but I think the chow zen unded might be solaire's long lost real non-trannie brother as I found out that Gwyndolin is adopted.

I recently got the Artorias of the Abyss add on, and I'm loving it so far! When I first entered the sanctuary guardian boss fight, I was freaking out because I was in unknown territory for the first time in a long time. Then, when I was exploring the eerily familiar Royal Woods, I stumbled upon the Artorias fight by complete accident and started freaking out not knowing what to do. Needless to say I died countless times. Then I met the black dragon and was roasted alive. I decide I'd save Kalameet for later, and am now stuck on the Manus boss fight. DLC is awesome! :D although, my first go of bit is in NG+, so it's extra hard! :D

Thats an awesome picture.

On another dark souls note, I goofed up yesterday, did a shortcut to get to tomb of the giants, and sat at the bonfire, and then could not get out XD (Bridges where still flipped, was before lord-vessel so no warp),
Luckily the internet had a route to get out (took 3X longer and was not easy).

But i got out after dieing several times from bonewheels (WORST enemy in the game)

And then, later that day, went to 4 kings and dropped to the abyss, but forgot to kill sif...

Think im done with the DLC on this.

Knight artorias is by far the hardest boss i have ever had, (NG+++++)
He has resistance to every attack, and he can 1-2 hit me even with 1.8k health.
And can't stumble him when he buffing so he will always do it >.>

Gotten him to 1 hit about 4-5 times now

i think that depends on the type of player that you are. Me, as a heavy armor, high endurance, player, i found him, not easy, but fairly simple once you found his move sets. I had a strong enough deffence, that if i couldnt avoid the attack, i could block it.

Personally for me, the hardest boss was either Manus, or the Capra Demon.

Definetly for playstyle, He was easy on NG and NG+ on my other build, but on this one (NG+++++) i can't stagger him so he will allways have his buff which then doubles his damage which wil one hit me if my shield isn't up (Still does alot of health damage)

Tried using alot of different ply styles beacuse im level 150 i have decent stats in most, but nothing worked, ended up using dark root grain ring so i could ninja flip everywhere with my 30% magic damage and just mage him.

Took about 20-30 attempts but got him,  problem is everything can 2 hit me apart from the mages that 1 hit (Even when blocked), so find it very difficult to get anywhere.

-Edit- Dang, Eff manus, All of my spells (5 Attunement slots) And i did not even reach half of his health (even with Dusk Crown/Dragon Crest Ring/Tin Crystallization Ctlyst)

Being on play through 6, I would say the hardest boss for me was the four kings. They had so much health on play through six that they would always overpopulate by the time I killed 2. That combined with that stupid unblockable grab attack and homing spells made them so much harder everytime I went up a play through, instead of the other bosses who remained pretty much the same difficulty wise

Did you bring Beatrice with you? It makes the job easier every time, not a whole lot. But an extra person, or two, makes the combat SO MUCH more bearable with the Four Kings.

it actually hurts the boss fight, as the kings spawn faster for every player in the game. I'm not exactly a consistently hard hitting build. And on the 6th play through one of the kings has more health than all the kings on the first play through. Its like killing 15 of the original play through kings that do more damage.

Also for every new person they get 50% more health, and for the 4-Kings that 50% makes it impossible.

However i do recomend using havels and pyro spells for the 4-kings, thats what i do now XD

I love dark souls so much that i made it to playthough 8 on several characters and beat the DLC on several accounts, the dlc was the best cause of introducing the two most Overpowering dexterity based weapons with these two weapons that shall not be named with the hornet ring and 40+ dex i was able to one hit/backstab anyone unless they had a crazy amount of health in which case the second weapon was able to finish them off. and btw Dark souls 2 is even better

What are some areas that you guys hate in this game. Areas that proove to be difficult for you?

my top five are:
1. sens Fortress (no, not the enemies, just the fortress on a whole annoys me)
2. Anor Londo (the area where the archer shoot at you)
3. While fighting the bed of chaos (self explanatory)
4. first time playthrough of going to Nito
5. Blightown (ruddy mosquitos are even worse in DS)

So I was having some fun in the forest, and I was giving out stuff to people I invaded. One of these few people I invaded had a sun bro with him, so I decided to be friendly until I had proper back up. After I gave them some stuff, another hunter invaded and we defeated the people. I later got a message saying that the host wasn't even mad. :D

i fought someone today who invaded me. he used humanity once, and i did the grovel animation (where you go on your knees into a ball) then he prceeded to use it two more time during the fight. i didnt heal once and won with more than 70% of my health intact.

Okay after doing alot of PVP, i have noticed a few things that i consider cheap.

Unlimited Elizabeth's mushrooms (Makes you almost invincible)

Hackers (Quite a few of them around >.>)

Rapiers/Shield pokers

Lag, alot of the matches have stupid lag, like being back-stabbed from other side of the map, or being hit by spells when there nothing even pointed at you.

2h users (If they hit you once may as well drop your controller due to stun-lock)

Chuggers (Who heal every time they get the chance even if almost full)

Back-Stab fishers, This picture sums it up well.
Game takes ages because of it.

Also on another note, Should i level my character above 125? most my pvp is in the forsest, and i have several mill souls just looking at me, thought be nice to upgrade some other stats so i can use other builds if i get board.

To all Dark Souls fans on PC, the game has finally transferred off of Games for Windows Live, and is now part of steam! At the time of this post, the game is currently region locked for PC players, meaning that online play won't be as active as you would hope it to be. In the /r/darksouls subreddit, you can find more information on this update, and how to transfer saves to steam.

From the article: 'Someone is making Dark Souls' Lordran in Minecraft' (http://www.pcgamer.com/someone-is-making-dark-souls-lordran-in-minecraft/)

Quote
Yes, you can make functioning battle mechs and word processors in Minecraft, but this project is no less gruelling. Minecraft user Davweed is currently building Dark Souls' Lordran, and if you know anything about From Software's classic RPG you'll understand that it's a massive undertaking.
Easily one of the most stunning game worlds ever designed (if you ask me!), recreating Lordran isn't as simple as plotting out a 1:1 scale model of the map. The way Lordran interconnects, and the sheer verticality of the map design makes for a pretty ambitious undertaking. The amount of precision required to recreate it with blocks is mind-boggling.
The best part about the project is that when it's complete, it will serve to help people appreciate just how beautifully constructed the original is.
Davweed hasn't completed the map, but what he has done can be downloaded over here. It's only 20 per cent complete but you can explore the entirety of Firelink Shrine and New Londo Ruins, as well as parts of Blighttown and Undead Asylum.
Cheers for the heads up, Kotaku.

In comparison between 1 & 2, 1 was more fun, and better overall. However, 2 is still a fantastic game that I'm certain you will enjoy. ;) Just make sure you're prepared to die. ;D

Currently up to the lost bastille, just cleared the bell towers.

But wow these gargoyles xD they are insane, might just farm and explore a bit I plan on fighting the old dragonslayer soon.

I had a LOT of trouble with the pursuer but I finally beat him, hes such a pain but then I had like a perfect run and didnt get hit once by him.

So to recap,
I have fought the dragonrider, the pursuer, the last giant, the no mans warf boss (cant remember the name) I think thats it

having a lot of fun, its a fantastic game and look forward to SOFTS.

Also Gavlan is amazing.

If you fight the Pursuer on top of that platform near the wall you blow open (shortcut to the Cardinal Tower Bonfire) you can make the fight easier. First, he isn't as strong it seems. Also, you have more room to fight than the second location he will be (No debris to get in your way). And remember to use Witching Urns on him, he's weak to those. Sounds like you are doing good though! ^-^

Lol I haven't even finished the first one yet. XD Really fun game though, And with the way i'm leveled, Most of the smaller enemies die in 1 hit, And don't even touch me. Although i don't have all that much health. XD

I don't think i'm even halfway through so this will be interesting.

Whats the most recent boss you've faced? And DkS1 is a brilliant game, you'll love every part of it. Do you have the DLC for it?

I just recently killed the Gaping Dragon, And no, I do not have the DLC.

I do indeed love it, I put it into my download queue when it was free, But i never played it, So about a week ago i decided to play it, And i couldn't get off of it. Lol

And I would suggest getting the dlc, it is very very good, and it includes my personal favourite boss in the entire franchise.

I most certainly am, It has the first standard enemys that i can't kill in 1 hit with my halberd. Lol

I find it funny though, In most games, Getting killed in 1 hit would be kind of frustrating, But not Dark Souls, It's just part of the game. XD

And i'll look into the DLC.

Well, fellow Dark Souls players... I've done it. I've actually done it. I have completed Dark Souls 2 to the extent of completion. I've done everyone's story line, acquired every boss armor, acquired every spell, pyromancy, hex, and miracle, every achievement, and every. single. boss. defeated. DLCs included. I feel very proud of myself right now, and just had to share. :D

HOW IS THIS GUY BEING HIT SO MUCH BY SINGLE ENEMIES?! Seriously, Hasn't he heard of blocking?

I can't really point out things that are new as a whole, Since i haven't played DS2, But it appears you get more than 2 slots for your left hand, And right hand weapons, The passive glow around you in dark areas is nowhere near as bright, And the lock-on indicator is way less obtrusive.

Also, Classic huge dragon out of nowhere. All we need now are tons of orange messages saying "Praise the Sun!", "Try Jumping Off", And "Be Wary of Beating to a pulp"

In regards to the weapons, we had access to three weapons per hand in Dark Souls 2, but in this video, this is only a Demo, where they didn't have access to menus, so anything they picked up were automatically put into their hands.
Also, enemies seem to be faster than before, and a lot more ruthless. I can also recognize some re-used assets from Bloodborne, like the lock on symbol. It seems like a mixture of Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1. Not much of anything from DkS2 in my opinion.

I'm currently trying to 100% Dark Souls and man is it a long proccess. to do it you need AT LEAST 3 play throughs if you dont have someone else to give you the soul items. Also i killed an invader npc, leeroy i believe, and he fell off and didnt give me any items. i needed those items :/ But i am almost there, just a few more boss souls to go!

Also omg DkS3, i am waaaaay to hyped for it

Slightly less exciting than 100% DS2.

I recently killed Gravelord Nito. He was pretty easy for me as I have recently been using the silver knight spear, And his little skeleton minions didn't revive.

I then decided to go poke around in the demon ruins as the 4 kings, And Duke's Archives had me a bit stuck. After cheesing ceaseless discharge into a pit I found most of the enemies to be pretty easy.

I then killed the demon firesage, And I'm having a bit of trouble with the centipede demon because it keeps stepping on me.

He was 1 hit off...

1 HIT

IT TOOK SO LONG

I got the 4th giant soul now to try again :c

Hes a complete pain, I tried to kill him when I first saw him but I dealt no damage xD that 32x defense stats!

Ah, Vendrick. I remember him. He was certainly a challenging boss! Every time I've fought him has been with just 3 giant souls, because I am not willing to deal with the dragon at that Dragon Shrine place. Basically, the best way to fight him is if you leveled up ADP. Gotta get those i-frames for rolling, y'know?

Well, I just finished my first run on Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. I got the four crowns, I defeated nearly every boss, and I did each "DLC" area within 2 hours, separately. I got all the loot I wanted/needed, and have successfully defeated other people in PvP. Now all that's left is to finish off the bonus bosses, and go get all the achievements.

Got the chance to do some Jolly Cooperation with Kitty a day ago, and it was quite fun, albeit short. But one thing that was pretty great that day, was while I was trying to invade Kitty >:D I invaded someone who was having a little "Fight Club" type thing, where he would 1v1 invaders on top of a highrise platform. I proceeded to defeat this host, while using a katana, and basked in the victory. Shortly after, I received a steam group invite to a group named "Katana noobs learn to play". The salt was real for them. :P

Most likely cause it is somewhat boring. Yeah she levels you up, but that offers nothing more than simply inconvenience. She's far away, and doesn't offer reward for leveling up any.

I mean lore wise, its cool, she reached her goal in coning to this land, but still.

Lore wise is the exact reason I'm surprised. This is literally the only time we actually witness the creation of a Firekeeper. Hell, we even actively take a role in the creation of said Firekeeper.

I think it's most likely because some people in dark souls 2 killed the firekeeper and couldn't level up, so they stuck a replacement in the game. Then someone probably decided to make the original one unkillable, so they stuck her in the tower

one http://totalminerforums.net/index.php?topic=16624.0 ::)

also, yes lore wise it is quite interesting, but since there inst any back story to how it happens, how yyou are deemed worthy to become a firekeeper, or why she was able to but noone else was (or very few) it seems like a rather unfinished story line, that they just threw in.
