The Setting...

~The Sylac Forest:These are the main area's of the land in which this story takes place, all places are inside this forest. It is a large forest of mythical proportions and no creature human or other has seen it all.

~Old Ruins:These are where a once great kingdom stood thousands of year's ago. Now it is but a mythical reminder of the past days of ancient times, many a traveler, mage, or treasure hunter have come to these ruins seeking fortune and knowledge. These lie in the Southern part of the forest.

~Celtington:This is the main village of the Sylac forest, there are tavern's, Inn's, shops, and blacksmith's along with the houses of the few Celtington natives. This is quite a peaceful village and has been for centuries. The forest itself is supposed to be inhabited with the spirits of nature and other mythical beings that keep it safe. Celtington is on the North East side of the forest.

~The Great Aquatical: This lake is the largest and deepest lake in the whole area of Sylac. It is said to actually inhabit an underwater town of mythical sea beings but no one can confirm it. Many think it is connected to an ocean, but it was made centuries ago after a battle between two Hierarchy mages made a large crater in the center of Sylac Forest. Some say you can still see their spirits battle over the lake in the dead of night on full moons. You may find this location on the North Western point, a body of water runs off from this lake into the ocean.

~The Crystal Caves:These caves lie deep within the forest of Sylac and are inhabited by nefarious creatures of the forest. Inside is magical crystals as beautiful as ever seen that possess magical energies capable of mythical proportions. Many a mage, or wizard, have come to these caves to prove themselves by getting their own crystal and making a wizard staff. Beware...the caves are filled with evil things that do not like unwelcome guests. The location of the caves is in the South Western region of the forest.

~Ralssenadlus:This great and hidden city lies deep within the forest, it is primarily Elven with a few exceptions. There are two human mage's there that have qualified to help defend the kingdom from outside evil. They have proved to be trustworthy as well as powerful. This town is only accessed by invitation from the king or by elven royal blood. Their city lies in the Mid-Western region of the forest, almost entirely in the middle. But don't let that fool you into believing it's easy to find.

~Grans Port:Grans Port is a large fishing city, and a very reputable (if not notorious) trade port. Many ships dock here carrying goods, sometimes pirates and mercenary ships find their way here too. The town is almost split between two distinct sections, one is filled with very wealthy folk, beautiful homes, shops, taverns, etc. The other side, is seedier and has a large criminal element to it. Local law and the lords of Grans Port keep law and order within the nicer side of town. The other side is left to rot and decay, as it is there are folks of ill-repute and other establishments to venture to on that side. Grans Port lies on the Eastern Coast not but a few days journey from Celtington.

ℵ~Alruane~ℵ

The day was rather breezy, cool yet had subtle hints of sunshine and heat. It was not something unaccustomed to the forests nature, which, was always pleasant. It's almost as if it knew what you wanted to feel, or drew off your emotions. It adjusted to that accordingly, or it simply did as it pleased. It was just another passing fancy, another ideological theory that Al usually went with.

Typically speaking, Al used his theories on almost anything he had even a slight inkling of. Any particular interest, he used a theory of what he did known of it's nature. And most of the time, he was right about it. But Sylac Forest...hardly. This forest would be, and is, the greatest mystery to Al.

In all his years of studying, traveling, and taking in wonder...this place was by far the biggest enigma ever to his theories. But, he loved coming back here and he loved traveling it's massive land. Every time he came through he always saw something new that he did not see on his last journey. For example, it was his fault the Crystal Caves even have a whereabout! That aside, he always had his favorite place to study and drink his favorite drink - Celtington's famous Soren Tavern.

I can tell ya where I got that picture! He was one of my favorite NPC's from the Baldur's Gate series:  Edwin Odesseiron  (http://baldursgate.wikia.com/wiki/Edwin_Odesseiron) The guy was totally insane at times, but very much an interesting character!

Not to worry! Tell the story from any point of view you'd like. I am not picky!  ^-^

I'm confused on when I give input in this, usually the story teller/game master adds scenario and prompts players for there input.

Could you explain this to me?

I believe it's like the other Role Play topic, and sort of like the one I tried to do... that didn't seem to take off. Basically, just tell your character's story in the world that Jack presented. I'm about to do mine. It takes a similar format as from Jack's post.

(My role play entries will most likely take place as journal entries. I'm going to experiment occasionally to see what I like most, though.)

Day 238
     Dear Journal

It's been four days now I've been stuck in the middle of nowhere in Sylac Forest... It's enjoyable to remove myself from the hustle and bustle of townplace environments, though. That said, I'm quite hungry for a leg of lamb. Especially after today's events. I figure I'll jot the happenings down before I settle in for my nightly respite.

So this morning was quite miserable. I woke up rather abruptly to the sound of what I thought was my snoring, turns out it was the sound of the branch I was sleeping on cracking beneath me. I quickly untied my coat from the branch, as I had used it to keep from falling while I sleep. I was too slow, unfortunately. The branch came crashing to the ground from about four or five metres up. I wasn't long to follow. The impact against the ground had crushed my flute and tore the skin off of my drum. Needless to say, I was quite livid. I'll omit the foul language that ensued...

I wandered for about an hour trying to find a small rabbit and a handful of berries. I managed the berries, but no rabbit. In attempt to cast an illusion spell on myself, it went awry quickly. I couldn't bare simply eating JUST berries for much longer, so I tried to fool myself into tasting meat. The spell made the berries taste worse, and I wretched my entire breakfast up. There's something to learn from that, but I simply don't want to admit it... I shouldn't have cast a spell I haven't put much practice into. I still taste that miserable encantation...

By midday, I had been heading North for two hours... or maybe South... I'll never get into town at this rate. I don't even remember which direction I left town from. Wait... I do! I left from the East side of town into the clearing half a mile out. Then I took a left because there was a deer to the right... So... North! I followed Chriil for a while... AH! Thank you Journal, I'll be back!...

Day 239
     Dear Journal

I would take more time to write, but I don't want to lose time getting back!

Day 240
     Dear Journal

I would take more time to write, but I don't want to lose time getting back!

Day 241
     Dear Journal

So... I thought I knew the way back... I don't. I'm even more lost. My legs hurt. I'm blaming Chriil for this...
*footprints with ink across the page*

At this rate I won't have enough ink to write these. Chriil just made a mess of most of a page. Well... I want to preserve ink in case I have to go longer in the wild.

This is an active-character Role Play. Basically, like PWR and myself are doing, you can present your characters story as you see fit. I merely provide the setting for you to do so. It's a creative form of Role Play, like what PWR mentioned. There is no stat's or treasure or any goals. Simply write what comes to mind, whatever your character is doing, saying, or thinking. If you're not comfortable with it, that is fine. Just sit back and observe until you see a way to come in, or you feel comfortable enough to take part. You may also interact with others, if you can find them. Whatever you want! Within some limitations. xD

I'm new to this style of RP, so be patient with me if I'm slow to produce my characters story or only write a small paragraph. I will remove the posts if you want or I can leave them just PM me your decision.

Story of Two Face
The Witch of Celtington contract - Part 1

It was sunset by the time Two face reached the town of Celtington, The heavens had opened midday and the rainfall showed no sign of relief. Arriving to what was a busling town by day, lay dormant and silent by the evening. Each house locked and boarded tightly with the only light coming from the tavern by the crossroads in the centre of town. The sight of small warding charms hanging and salt freshly spread across the doorways and window frames made Two face briskly aware he had arrived in the right place.

For now he would head to the tavern for a drink and find a place to rest his weary head after a long day.

It was a stormy day in Celtington, A rather odd place as far as I'm concerned. For try as i may, i cannot find a Thieves' market, Nor can i find anyone else who has taken up the art that I've dedicated my life to.
Luckily for me, My looks don't raise any suspicion. Due to the strange variety of Coin-Bags around here, A man in a black hood, And black leather armour standing in the shadows is pretty much the norm.

So here i stand in the Celtington Tavern, Watching the "people" who enter and leave. The Wealthy, Stupid types are easily readable, And even easier to relieve of their coin...

Speak of the Devil, Here's one now, A shorter man, Wearing a hat and keeping his nose in a book.
-------------
After a while of watching him, He decided to get up and leave. I followed him out of the tavern, And after using a simple Soft Touch Spell, I relieved him of but one of his pouches, As he seems to have had a bad day, And i do not need much at the moment.
-------------
I decide to go sit somewhere and create some more arrows, As i am running low from a chance encounter with one of the many beasts of the forest. I pull out a shaft from my quiver, And a Dragon scale out from my pouch, And get to work.

Before i can get five arrows done, A tall man comes up to me and speaks.

"Those are some fine Dragon Scales you have there. From a dragon that was alive at the time you got them."

He says as i keep working.

"If you don't mind me asking, How did you obtain such a large amount of them?"

Now i have to talk to him, Don't i?
In the Dragon tongue i say

"If you can get past the trust barrier of the normally secretive Dragons, And show them you are alike, Then they may deem you worthy of a few of their scales, Either that, Or try to kill you anyway. I tend to stay away from those kinds though."

From the look he gives me, I not only know that he understands me, But he believes me too.

"Would you perhaps lend me a few scales, The scales of a live dragon have great magical and alchemical purpose."

He says also in the Dragon tongue.

After a moment of deliberation, I take five more scales out of my pouch, And give the tall man the rest.

"You must either be a good friend to this dragon, Or not realize the true worth of these scales if you give them up so easily."

He says in a rather surprised tone.

"I am friends with her, Her name is Dravynoloviir, And i do know their worth, I know from looking at you that you will make better use of them.

With that, He thanks me, And leaves, As i get back to work..

So, I'm not one for short posts. Lol I'm imagining that PWR's story took place before everyone else's story, Since it's journal entries, Time scale is weird, But i imagine in the tavern he was writing about what happened since he got more ink. I'd imagine me and Jack are very good at reading people (For different reasons) And i am not a heartless thief, But i do steal, And enjoy stealing, Which can effect anyone in the RP.

Also, Would there be any point in me getting Lock Picks via the BlackSmith or me making them myself? Do people have proper locks, Or do they just bar up houses?

Day 242
     Dear Journal

Very little ink. Very hungry. I miss people...

Day 243
     Dear Journal

     Very littl
*The message stops as if the inkwell had run dry*

Day 245
     Dear Journal

REJOICE! I found a footpath in the forest! I followed it in one direction for about sixteen hours. Chriil slept most of the time... lazy creature.
*footprints with ink sprawl across the rest of the page*
I regret teaching that rodent to read... In any case, I'm back in Celtington. With ink to write with. It was miserable to have to skip a day of writing... Granted, nothing eventful besides the dicovery of the footpath happened. On my way into town there was plenty of rain. Quite stormy. I'll wait for the rain to let up at least a bit before I go.

I bought a room in a tavern. I've been enjoying a black ale for an hour or two now. I bought a leg of lamb, as well. I'm quite exhausted after my eleven day "vacation" in the forest of Sylac. I've got plenty of thoughts I'd like to scrawl upon these pages, but I can't put them in words. I'm still quite livid about the entire ordeal.

There's a few characters in here that are making me uneasy. An Orc at the counter is getting rowdy. The two old Elves at the table across from me seem like a couple of bigots. "This forest belongs to the Fae!" "Humans are filth!" "Those worthless Gnomes and Dwarves are impure!" "Bartender! Get me another black ale!"... Well... That's one I could get behind.

There's this human in the corner... I've seen him grab a few coinpurses. Spells, he uses. Illusionary. I'm not comfortable with him. I'm going to head out of here after I finish my drink.

My day has to get better. I can't seriously deserve these awful
*a dark liquid has been spilt across the middle of the page*

I'm sorry Journal. I didn't intend to do that. It soiled a few previous pages. How miserable. I'm heading out for a walk. Fortunately the rain has died down to a light shower by now.

Day 246
     Dear Journal

Trying to get back in the motion of writing each evening. I'm not in a very good mood. I went to buy a new flute, turns out I've only got one coinpurse left. Strange... I don't remember drinking that much last night. Oh well...

I think I'll head into the tavern this evening and play a song on my lyre. It's a decent night for "Owl Parade" written and composed by yours truly.

I saw Alruane yesterday. He seemed to have a few strange discs on hand. I should talk to him again. The last time I had a conversation with him was... oh... a year or so ago.

The patrons of the tavern seem to enjoy my music. I've earned about four gold and eighty silver tonight. I should probably head to the general market to pick up a fl

Day 247
     Dear Journal

Sorry Journal, Alruane walked in. I decided to have a bit of a chat with him. He taught me a new story to add to my collection. It's about a beautiful sorceress by the name Lady Erulla and a king by the name Lucard. She cursed his bloodline for being pigheaded and taking her beauty away.

Well, today was spent doing basically nothing. I bought a new flute. I can't get a proper drum around here it seems. So I went back to the tavern, played a few songs, drank a couple steins, and listened to some folks' stories.

That's all for now. I'll try and do something interesting tomorrow. Maybe I'll cause some trouble.

Story of Two Face
The Witch of Celtington contract - Part 2

Two face stumbled into the tavern, water droplets dripping from his leather overcoat on to the wooden floor boards. He slammed the wooden door shut behind him, keeping out the whistling wind and awakening the patrons of the tavern from there drunken slumber.

He approached the Tavern keeper and began to speak.
"Flagon of Ale and a room for the night, keep"

"Do ya 'av the coin for that stranger?" questioned the keep

"My pocket bares no coin keep, but I have this" responded Two face as he unrolled a scroll with the seal of the Mayor of Celtington.

"Says 'ere I must give yee shelter and propa feed and that I will, but I'll not stand for any trouble in this here tavern" stated the keep in a harsh tone "You understand that outsider?"

"I understand" replied Two face pulling down his hood revealing his facial features previously shadowed.

The keeps face dropped in recognition of the disfigured face of the creature that stood before him. Two face left the company of the keep and sat by the open fire slurping his ale away from the other tavern patrons.

Story of Two Face
The Witch of Celtington contract - Part 3

Two Face woke up shivering in the night, there was a chill in the air and out the window a mist could be seen laying on the ground. The peaceful silence was broken when the wailing of a woman could be heard in the distance.

Questioning himself Two face began to wondered
"Could the wailing be that of a banshee, they are know to wail before someone dies?"

He clambered to his feet and began searching his satchel for a Flint and tinder to light a candle.
After a few strikes a spark ignited the wick of the candle and the flickering light illuminated the room. After taking time to prepare himself Two face left his room branding his sword in one hand and a candle in the other. The light from the candle flooded into hallway of the second floor of the tavern fighting back the darkness. He slowly paced down the hallway, Knocking on the doors of his patrons on the way to the lobby of the tavern. A fire brewer in the fireplace of the lobby spitting ash and crackling this is where he would wait to see if they would join him to investigate the wailing.

Whichever fits the story. If you wish to purchase them, go for it. If you are proficient in crafting them then go for that.  And yes, they do lock their doors. If you have ever played Baldur's Gate it's like Waukeens Promenade (Or Waterdeep). If you have ever played Skyrim, it's akin to Riften or Windhelm. Very large sprawling city. It's still a town, but considered a large city by most standards.

ℵ~Alruane~ℵ

It was fortuitous that night that Al decided to enter the tavern. Granted, it was his stomping grounds, he loved coming in and hearing tales of fancy or adventure. His life was filled with adventure, and tales to spin a yarn for a life time. He traded in stories and spells, sometimes other objects of value. But nothing was more valuable to him than experience and adventure.

He met a sly one today, managed to get some Dragon Scales from him. Bizarre, typically those were hard to come by and even harder to actually acquire. He was simply given them after using an old ancient language to speak to the person. It was quite an honor that he could find another linguist in these parts. Other than sentient beings outside of Celtington, it was hard to come by.

Al actually managed to see an old friend in the tavern tonight, it was Ychthirillius. IT had been at least one or two years since he last spoke to that ole gnome. He ended up giving the Gnome an old, but true, tale of his past adventures. He was shin deep into his book after returning from his meeting with the Gnome. Old friends were hard to come by these days, Typically due to them dying for some fool purpose.

Usually a woman, a Baron, a Lord, King, Gods, and the like. He found it best to cut ties and be his own man, someone no one knew, yet everyone was friend with. He was a man of fair trade, good story, and admirable company. His magic was known, to some extent, but others found him a mystery. And in his right, he was...but in this town he was fairly unknown personally.

Only of his profession, and his favored past-times. He did notice another being enter the tavern. Being that it was Celtington, this towns abundance of anything but human was in high demand. He resembled a sort of tall bulking being of great physical prowess. Al kept his eye on him, just in case.

Typically large beings in this tavern meant one thing - bar brawls. And Al was in no mood tonight to break up yet another fight. He enjoyed the times of eve when the tavern was merely quiet and devoid of most folks. Only low whispers and sips of cool ale were what he enjoyed hearing, other than the hearth's crackling fire and magic in the air. His one, true great, love of this town was that it lie in the North East forest of Sylac.

The magic surged in the air and it was that energy he loved so much about this place. If he had to choose a fight, a reason to truly fight, it would be for this town. This place, it represented all that was right in a world that was so wrong. So deathly off, greed and anger are what truly offended his entire aura. If he so chose, he could be far wealthier than any god in the celestial compilation. But he cared NOTHINg for pure wealth, unless it was knowledge.

It's around midnight, I've always found the night so peaceful. It's strange here though, They say this town is protected by some sorts of spirits, Yet though i have heard their whispers at the edge of town, They seem to be indifferent to my thievery. Maybe they care more about the town itself, And not the people who live in it, I'd be blind to not notice that something is special about this area. People from far around are attracted to this area, Not knowing truely why they ended up here.

*Clang* *Clang*

Blacksmith's still up and about it seems, May as well see what the pickings are.
-------
Upon walking in, I see Axes, Daggers, Shields and Swords lining the walls.
The warmth from the furnace is nice, But not my personal taste, The cold of night has always made me feel more alert, And yet it comforts me.

I walk up to the blacksmith, An average height strong looking lady, And ask

"Do you have anything suitable for picking a lock, Or any less violent hobbies?"

"Sure, I have all sorts of other works."

She says

"When you a Blacksmith you can't exactly hang spoons on the wall, Most of my clients never ask for anything not on those walls."

"Yeah, While i can hold my own in a fight, It isn't my first choice in dealing with a problem."

"Let me take you to the back room, Grab anything you like, And I'll give you a price." She says
-------
After a look around, I managed to make off with a full Lock Pick set, A couple of random trinkets i liked the look of. All for the cost of 6 silver coins, I asked her why the price was so low, And she said she had a greater amount of them then people who buy them.
-------

I should probably get some rest, The town gets pretty dead at night, No one to catch a bit of coin off of here at this time.

Day 248
     Dear Journal

I've not gotten a lick of sleep since last night. Today's events were more than enough to put me off. I won't go into full detail, mainly for the reason that I'm not quite sure what had happened.

It was roughly an hour till midnight. I was working on a spell. The premise of it was to create a sound where there actually isn't. It was supposed to be the voice of a woman singing softly upon the night... Instead... It was a woman's scream. Enough to make me jump, that was. In fact, enough to make a few other patrons jump. The lug from a few doors down left his room and knocked on all of the customers' doors. I think he knew someone was getting into something.

I was going to head downstairs to keep from too much trouble brewing, although... in all honesty... I wasn't totally convinced that the sound was my doing. My spells may not always work, but they never have an adverse effect. I peered out the window to see if anything was going on.

I saw the lights from the blacksmith five buildings down go out. I also noticed a figure in full black make a rather dexterous escape from the establishment. The body type looked a lot like the man from downstairs a couple nights ago. I don't feel comfortable about him. Perhaps the trick was his. He knows illusionary spells, as was evident in his campaign across the bar for coinpurses the other night... Wait a moment... My missing coinpurses! Now he's gone too far...

I was going to do something fun today, but I've been thinking about that strange occurence and that filthy thief. If I can manage a glance into his eyes, I can manage to follow his path. Illusion magic is truly the best.

The smoke wafted from Al's pipe, the smoke resembled a sort of violet and cyan mist, something mystical. He enjoyed smoking his herbs, they calm his mind and allow him to think more clearly than usual. The smoke circled around his head and gave Al a mythical appearance. He preferred to remain down to earth and not over-exaggerate his abilities. He continued to read his book, he did notice the vacancy of the Tavern.

It was about that time, time to head to his lodgings. It was outside of the town, he preferred to stay within the vicinity of the town. However, he did not want to truly live WITHIN the town. He was not keen on paying taxes, not one to want for gold. He just preferred not to pay a local landlord, or baron, a share of his hard earned currency.

Tomorrow he would make way his way to Ralssenadlus, the Elven City. He once had the privilege of dating a fine elven beauty of some nobility. She allowed him entrance to the city, to which she could not take back the invitation. So, on certain days of the year, Al likes to take a sovereign journey to the great capital city of the elves. To tell tales and talk with old friends of past times, and trade goods.

Story of Two Face
The Witch of Celtington contract - Part 4

No patron answered his call to help, Two face sulked before running off into the night. Upon arrival of the scene in the town centre, he found the burning carcass of a wooden lodge. Its thatched roof had spontaneous caught a blaze and clapsed upon its residents. After relentlessly peddling water from the stone well to dowse the blaze and by the time dawn began to break it was evident that the flames had showed no mercy to the inhabitants. Short after rumour began to spread among the town folk that two young children were absent from charred remnants of the wood lodge.

Two face slowly trailed back towards the tavern his disfigured face black with soot. He traipsed in to the tavern and collapsed on to a strong oak chair, it creaking under the weight.

"A pitcher of Ale, Keep" demanded two face.

The keep placed it down on the table and Two face began to violently gulp down the pitcher, only to be disturbed by the cawing of a messenger raven that flew through the open window landing on the table facing Two face.
Attached to its foot was a small scroll, Two face delicately removed the scroll before sending the bird on its way with a small helping of feed from his satchel in its mouth.

After taking a moment to memorise the scroll, Two face began to collect his attire and headed urgently towards the door.

"Leaving so soon stranger?" questioned the keep.

Two face opened the door and turned back towards the keep.

"Yes Keep, but you haven't seen the last of this pretty face" said Two face cracking a smiling to reveal two jagged rows of teeth.

Two face left slamming the tavern door behind him,at the same time the strong oak chair buckled startling the keep. Two face headed off towards the edge of town into the sunrise.

There are some people who i won't steal from, Not due to guilt, Nor due to their position in life.
Due to the respect i have for them. If you are a good person, You probably deserve everything you have.
The tall man, Who's name i now know to be Alruane, Is one such person. No doubt he could tell i had stuff to hide, But he was kind to me regardless.
As is the Blacksmith, She's just trying to make a li- *Screeeeeeeaaaaam*... There's that sound again, Interrupting my thoughts. The lanterns went out, What could cause that? I had better check it out. I made sure i had paid the lady and ran outside.

The sound came from the left, Towards the edge of the town, I ran over as i heard the sound again.

It's the spirits at the edge, They are warning something to stay away.
-------
As i walk up, I see the problem, The spirits are circling a large dragon... She has children, I have to calm her down, And get her away before the brutes of the Tavern get here.

I pull down my hood and show her my face as i speak in the Dragon's tongue.
"Please calm yourself, This town is not safe for you or your kin"

She was about to say something, Then her expression changed... I've been followed.
I pull my hood back up over my head and turn around, Bow in hand, Arrow at full draw...
It's the gnome i stole from at the tavern..

"Stay away! You will not harm this dragon, Or her kin."
I say, Then i remember Gnomes love their hats almost more than life.

"Come any closer, First an arrow goes into your hat, Come closer then that it goes into you."

He took a step back before saying
"You are a total jerk, You know that? Steal-Ing peoples-s coin, You're just a s-self-fish jerk..."

... He's Drunk, Isn't he?

"If you care about coin so much, Take it!"
I say as i throw a coin purse at him, Hoping that he'll go.. away... Smoke, Off in the distance.. It must have been one of the young dragons, They can't control it, That's why the spirits are so mad at them..

"Go, Now. Fly like the wind! They will be coming for you."
I say to the dragons as i run towards the smoke, Ignoring the idiotic gnome.

(I made some slight changes to fix something that _Underscore_ would have found hard to work with, He also informed me that the journal entries are from the next evening, So he doesn't suspect me to have stolen his coinpurse. But i do imagine his character to go all vigilante when he's drunk, Even if he forgets most of what happened at this night.)

Day 249
     Dear Journal

That beast of a man or... troll... or whatever had left town. I think I may leave soon, just as well. Towards Grans Port, most likely. Port towns are good targets for thieves. I think I'll find the thief there. Plus, I may find a proper drum. I've got a new, ominous piece to write that goes PERFECT with a tale I'm writing.

My head still hurts from yesterday. Did I drink too much? Did I hit my head? Ah, who knows. At least I'm not still stuck in the forest.

Chriil was going crazy, today. I found a new treat for him. He likes rib of swine soaked in spiced wine. Ooh... That rhymes. Perhaps I could write a song using that.

      ~The rib of swine~
          ~So savoury~
      ~Fine spiced wine~
     ~Soaked Gracefully~
        ~Flavour divine~
          ~So Savoury~
         ~Beautiful dish~
     ~Served just for me~

Not bad... But it could use some work. In any case. I think I'll head out in the morning. I'm not sure how long it'll take to get to Grans Port. I've heard that the road has to frequently change due to highwaymen and furious Treants blocking the paths.

Day 250
     Dear Journal

I'm on my way to Grans Port, now. I took off in the morning. I went to rent a horse, but it was too big. Instead, I bought a small produce cart and a Herbie. Herbie is a domesticated boar. Chriil has taken quite a liking to him, but I think I'll sell him to a butcher when I get to Grans Port. He's hauling me down the trails rather quickly. I am taking most of my things with me. The rest I left with Rochlin back in town.

Rochlin is a good, old friend. A gnome like myself. He said he'd hold onto whatever I couldn't carry, and that I could send courier for it whenever. Let's see... It'd probably be helpful to jot down a list of what I'm bringing and what I left.

Brought
 -Lute
 -Flute
 -Three sets of travelling clothes
 -Two sets of fine clothes
 -Trunk full of hats
 -Stick sword
 -Five bags of salted beef
 -Five skins of black ale
 -Almost thirty gold pieces
 -A roll of writing parchment
 -Two full inkwells
 -Writing quill
 -Lyre
 -Horse-hair blanket
 -Quail down head cushion

I'm pretty sure that's all. I may have forgotten something. It's alright, though. If I brought it, I brought it.

Day 251
     Dear Journal

Well, I've been on the road all of yesterday and today. I passed an alchemist who had come from Grans Port. He said it's probably another six hours using my method of transportation. I suppose I'll get there by morning.

I had a run-in with some highwaymen. They weren't very friendly, go figure. I told them I had a hidden entourage of Elven archers hiding in the trees. They didn't believe me at first, but then I had casted Hallucination and Fear on them. I suppose they saw arrows flying at them. In any case, they were no problem.

Can you believe I also saw a treant!? He didn't seem too angry. In fact, he looked like he was in pain an cried out for help. Ugh, I couldn't be bothered to investigate. I was curious, believe you me. I just don't know if I could fend myself from it in case it was a trap... I'm worried about it, though.

I wonder if he would have told me a... "sappy" story... How shameful.

I'm hungry. I may as well consume my last salted beef stick and black ale. I think I'll arrive in the nicer side of town to get a decent meal when I get there. I could probably get ahold of Grandfather Chiirikliithiolum. Not sure why everyone calls him Grandfather. That old codger always loved me. He'll let me stay for a fortnight in his manor.

Day 252
     Dear Journal

I've arrived in Grans Port. That was probably an hour after the roosters had crowed. I was stopped by the guards. They almost wouldn't have let me in. Fortunately, one of them recognized me. I don't know who it was, but they apparently like my stories.

When I got to Grandfather's manor, I was greeted by this beautiful Halfling woman. She was dressed in a day gown of sweet, pale-blue colour. She's Grandfather's tailor, from what I gathered. Upon entry, I was enveloped in a huge mass of nostalgia. Growing up in this place was too enjoyable. Fine meals were prepared every hour of the day. These meals fed all of Grandfather's gnome cubs running about. This was a sort of orphanage.

I talked with him for a few hours to catch up. He lent me a room to stay in while I'm here. Apparently he no longer uses it as an orphanage. Instead, as a sort of ballroom during the weeknights, and a high-class brothel on the weekends. Grandfather has always been crazy about his brothels. That's how he made his coin. Four of them in the unfortunate half of town belong to him. I wonder how much he subscribes to his business... He's about a quarter millenia in age now. That's quite a number.

My chat with Grandfather was enjoyable, but I was getting hungry, and the manor no longer caters like it once did. So I had made a short walk to a delicatessen down the road from his manor. They had plenty of meats and breads to indulge myself in. I've not felt so luxurious in months, at least.

Oh, that reminds me. I decided to keep Herbie. I left him with a livery just inside the city walls. Chriil seemed happy about my decision. I suppose it's only fair. Herbie did me quite a service, and Chriil needs a friend when I'm not carrying him along.

I spent the rest of today thinking about what I can do while I'm here, other than catch the thief. I'll pick up some more tales, surely. Other than that, though... I'm not sure. Oh well...

I think that's enough for today. I'll possibly start on my venture for the thief tomorrow, if not the next day. Before I go to sleep, though, I'm going to go grab a meal from downstairs. There's a ball going on, and they have honey-roasted leg of lamb on the catering tables.

Question, Could general locations of certain settings be specified in the OP? It was said by Jack in one of his posts that Celtington is in the northeast, Even something like that would be helpful, Maybe even what places are near each other, So to give the forest more of a sense of scale.

I may not be posting this week, As on Friday, I'll be away for the weekend, And i can't think of what to write about at the moment. I'm kinda waiting for people to define their sides since my post, And the locations to be mapped out a bit. PWR has posted, But there hasn't been anything else since the fire.

My character also does not know about Grans port, So he can't go there until he visits the local cartographer, Or someone tells him.

Story of Two Face
Kink in the Road - Part 1

On the forth day of his Journey,Two face arrived late evening in the lower district of Grans port. The multiple houses where condensed in to small avenues with numerous cobble streets leading off in every direction. The scent of smoke and excrement filled the air, burning the nostrils when inhaling deeply. Vision was severely reduced due to fog roiling in of the sea making anyone able pickings for the fiends of the night that inhabited the lower quarter.

Bearing a lantern in hand Two face cautiously wondered along an avenue, raising the lantern on approach to imposing doorways and corners where ambush was common.
The scuttle of feet could be heard moving in the shadows, kept at bay by the light, those who defied the curfew, as no good man would wonder at night. Not in Grans Port.

Two faced shined the light of the lantern onto a doorway. Decoratively carved into the centre of the heavy oak door was the image of a skull. Two face gave a stern knock on the door and waited patiently. After a few minutes an iron plate slid back on the door to reveal two very real eyes staring back at Two face in place of the skulls eyes.

"What business do you have hear fiend of the night?" Questioned the figure behind the door.

"It is I Two Face"
"I received by raven but not four suns ago! bearing word that my item of interest was in stock" declared Two face.

The slider slammed shut upon the end of Two face's response, the sound of the locks and bolts been loosened came from behind the door which eventually swung open to reveal a Dark elf standing in the doorway.

"Come in comrade, may I interest you in some tea of poppy or black tea with a wedge of lemon?"

"Black with Lemon please"
Responded Two face stepping in to the passageway and closing the door behind him. After turning back to see his host had wondered of deeper into the household without him.

Every inch of the premise was filled with trinkets, plants and apparel. The scene was overwhelming and clearly indicated the Elf was not just a merchant but also a hoarder. Two face almost stumbled and tripped trying to avoid small goblets, rare coins scattered across what floor was visible. Ducking under cloves of garlic and low hanging vines he reached a room bricked up with books from floor to ceiling with only an open fireplace and two padded grand beech chairs with the backs facing away from the door to resemble an sitting room.

A small stream of steam lifted up from two cups of tea precariously placed upon on a stack of books between the chairs. Lounging in one chair was the host, gazing into the roaring fire.

Two face sat down in the chair parallel to the host and began to slowly sip tea from a cup.

"Two friends do not conduct business at such a later hour, Two face"
"We will finish are tea and then rest till morning"
"Over breakfast we will resume" said the dark elf in a friendly but controlling manner.

"I will not argue with that Tiraro" responded Two face.

Basically the same goes for myself, as well. Since mine comes in bursts of days with events planned ahead of everyone else. So I'm thinking one or two more story related post, and I'll write another. I'm interested in what Trub's character will get into.

ℵ~Alruane~ℵ

Al traveled across the terrain to the North West side of Sylac Forest, he had business to discuss. His business was with an unusual family member of his. The family part was not unusual, the part that was out of place was that the family member... was dead. He traveled to the Great Aquatical, a large lake located on the North Western edge of the forest. It provided water to the ocean by way of a small river leading from the lake.

He trekked for a day or two, not really worrying about much within the vast forest. He did enjoy stopping for a spell and eating some food while taking in the forest's beauty. No other living creature had EVER seen the entire forest, save Sylac himself. Yes, Al had once met Sylac...it had been a couple years since their last encounter. Fortunately, for Al, it was a positive meeting of the minds...something he vowed never to reveal to any other living being.

It did not take him long to arrive there, as he knew a shortcut provided by some of the denizens of the forest. Once there, he sat down and pulled out his journal and his pipe. He proceeded to place a very substantial amount of Cyan and red tinted herbs into his pipe. He then snapped his fingers and provided a small flame to bring his pipe to life! He inhaled deeply the rich aroma of earth tilled herbs and pleasant minty after tastes.

Al waited for his ancestor to appear, a mage of ultimate power. He once did battle here with a rival mage, many ages ago. Al found out, through sources and his own studies, that this mage was of his bloodline. But of course, with that power who could doubt the relation?! He appeared out of thin air, a silhouette of pure energy appeared in a robe before Al. "So...my dearest great great grandchild...how may this humble Magi be of service?"

By the time I had reached the flames, It was too late for anything to be done... I hear heavy footsteps coming towards the site, I'd better hide before I come face to face with the source.
---------------------
A large disfigured looking man came by and fought the flames,  Then stormed off. I'd better go get some rest. It's almost sunrise.
I walked to the woods and found a high branch to sleep on and let myself drift into sleep.
---------------------
It was around noon when I woke up. The town was busy and frightened due to the flames of the previous night.
I decided to make my way to the Celtington Cartographer to see if I could find out anywhere more interesting to go.
As I walk in, I'm greeted by a tall man, Not a single hair on his head.
"What c'n ah do yeh fer?"
He asks me
"I'd like a dosen blank maps, A good quill,  A bottle of ink, And a map of the area to get an idea of where I am."
"Right away sir."
He says before running off to the back room.
" 'ere yeh 're sir. That'll be 1 gold."
I rummage through my pouches to find one of my gold coins. As I find it I pull it put and give it to the man.
Looking at the map I see a town a couple day's travel south east of Celtington.
"What's this?"
I ask pointing to the town on the map.
"That'll be Grans Port. Nuthin but snobby rich folks and thieves round those parts."
Sounds like my kind of place.
I thanked the man and walked out.

Grans Port huh? Maybe if I'm lucky I'll find a Dragon willing to give me a ride.

ℵ~Alruane~ℵ

"Al, tell me child, why have you disturbed my eternal damnation to this miserable plane of existence?" Al took out his pipe and began to remove the various herbs from his pouch. The pipe was long and slender, it was adorned with various runes and sigils of ancient languages and spells. Al truly loved his pipe, but not more than his vast array of tomes at his home. The pipe was full, the herbs smelled great, and it was time to inform his relative why he was here.

Al flicked his pointer finger and thumbs together, which ignited a fire immediately. He used it to light his pipe, slowly taking LONG deep puffs of his freshly stuffed pipe. He exhaled deeply and, almost, sympathetically."My lord ancestor, it appears I am in need of your ancient wisdom." He shifted his gaze downward, realizing he had some pride within his soul.

"My boy, I implore you to continue your line of query and begone. You may be my family, but I am indeed the spirit of a supremely powerful being." Al began to feel the pressure of his question bearing down on his mind. "My lord...I-I...it appears an ancient being has also returned to these forests. I have done research and studies on this matter, but cannot find any text remaining on this...thing."

The ancestor listened to Al's tale, whilst floating back in forth in a pace-like manner. He scratched his ghostly beard and twitched one eyebrow up inquisitively. The news of Al's 'Being' was more and more sounding familiar. This was something that existed well before the ancestors time. It was...primordial at least. Something truly deadly and unknown to most creatures of the last era...or two.

Day 253
     Dear Journal

There's been a murder in the unfortunate half of town. It's not unusual, by any means. Except for that this time, it was the murder of a family of peasants by a wealthy Orc priest by the name of Orgnum Flabnog. The city guard found him this morning hiding in the wealthy side of town's chapel's undercroft. The world is going mad. He stabbed them multiple timed with deer antlers. DEER ANTLERS.

Well, that's the only intersting thing that's happened today. I'm going to head to the tavern and play a song for some coin and a free drink.

Day 254
     Dear Journal

A dragon! I saw a dragon! It flew overhead towards the lighthouse and landed. It left after someone got off of it. I asked around if anyone else saw it. Not one single other witness. I sense something fishy. I'll be sitting on the tower atop Grandfather's for the rest of the day with my looking glass and keeping an eye on the lighthouse.

If I am going to convince a dragon to take me to Grans Port, I am going to need to find something to offer them. Even if I have made friends with the one I met the other night, I can't in good conscience ask her to take me on a trip so far. She has her Drakes to worry about.

If only the inhabitants of this town had something worth stealing.
Perhaps I should check my stash for something before I try finding something that is worth anything.
---------------------
Well I'm in luck, I have this shortsword I never use, As well as a few gemstones like Lapis Lazuli, And Amethyst.
This should be more than enough if I am nice.
Now to find a dragon. Maybe I should look in the general area of the last one and ask nicely if anybody is there.
---------------------
"Hello?"
I ask in the Dragons' tongue.
"Is there anyone out there? Preferably with four legs and two wings."
...

...

...

Hmm, No reply. I should keep searching fo- *Rustle* *Rustle*

"For a Human, Your accent is not terrible."
I hear from behind.

I turn around to see a rather large male dragon, Brilliant crimson scales adorning his body.
I am always amazed at the ability for Dragonkind to remain hidden with their size and colour.

"I request transport, To a town called Grans Port. I have an offering of jewels and metal for trade."
I say in the Dragon Tongue.

"That will not be necessary, Human. You are clearly no enemy to Dragonkind, As you helped to protect our youth. And choose to speak to us in our own tongue."

Great, I thought I was going to finally be rid of this sword.
Oh well.

"Very well then, We shall fly at nightfall."
---------------------

(I still need to fully get back in to the process of writing things. Bear with me.)

Story of Two Face
Kink in the road - Part 2

Two face awoke to sound of crackling. The sound sweet chestnuts, a seasonal delicacy, made as they roasted on an open fire. He found himself sitting slouched in the chair with a empty pitcher on his lap. With a deep inhale through the his nose to the lip of the pitcher, his senses stimulated to the fragrance of a rich fortified wine.

"Roast chestnuts, Fruit and some watered down ale is all we have I'm afraid" said Tiraro

" We had some spiced Port but you seem to have drank the pantry dry of it" said the grey elf, smirking as his guest attempted to pull himself together clearly suffering from his indulgence of the drink.

" Are we going to discuss business now Tiraro?" Questioned Two face as he followed his host into an adjoining banquet hall, his inelegant stumbling disturbing the precariously balanced treasures of the hoarder.

Sitting down at the end of the banquet table and helping himself to items from the display of food arranged on it. Two face paused and impatiently gazed at his guest waiting to converse.

" Well then..." Pausing to chomp on a wedge of orange mid sentence "... Did you acquire what I requested?" Questioned Two face.

" Well yes and no" replied Tiraro his face squirming at the table manners of his guest.

"I have procured the Mana stone you requested" said the host, unraveling a cloth bundle to reveal a jagged black gemstone.

"It weakly glows a shade of light green and is ice cold to the touch in proximity to those who dwindled in the art of sorcery"

"as for your other item of interest more time is required"

"The man that sold me it, provide this small locked ledger with it" "it may be useful should you be able to break its lock."

"What is it you want in exchange?" Questioned Two face

Tiraro took a small letter out of the inner pocket of his waistcoat with a wax seal and handed it to Two face. Two face broke the seal and read the name "Gregory Lechance" scribed on the letter. With this Two face shook hands with Titaro and made his leave.

ℵ~Alruane~ℵ

Al sat in that forest, near the lake, and listened to the tale his ancestor wove. In it, was the information Al had been waiting for ever since the threat reached his ears. This creature, this thing...it was not of this world. Al recounted a moment in his personal study where he read such vague information in a tome. The information was ancient at best, but it provided clues that he needed.

"My boy, where are you off to now?" The ancestor looked at Al in a perplexed manner. "My lord, I must regroup at my abode and decipher all I have heard...perhaps commune with the oracles on the matter." Al departed as quickly as he arrived, he had work to do. His thoughts swam as he made his way through the shrouded forest, something was amiss.

Al recalled overhearing isolated instances of folk being murdered by animals, or some such nonsense. The killing by animals seemed normal, until one examined the type of animal that supposedly killed them. Most were killed by herbivores, creatures that did not only not eat meat...but were neither killers nor aggressive. Most commonly, the type of creature used in these killings were Deer or Elk. Al recalled tales of ritualistic murders on behalf of cults, perhaps...

Al was nearly home, and still beyond confused as to why these supposed killings were going on again. He was also concerned the towns guard did not quite meet the requirements to solve this murderous riddle. Al himself already deciphered the animal murders were not committed by animals, but humanoids. As well, it appeared to be almost too coincidental that his ancestor relayed information to him of a primordial evil. These killings may be linked in some way, but Al did not possess the evidence or information to prove any of it. He needed to consult the oracles, his tomes, and a great deal of his finest herbs.

It is almost nightfall as I finish up what little business I still have in this odd town, Celtington.

I have chosen to confine our travels to the night, As a man in black riding a large red dragon would probably draw suspicion. The last thing I want is to be recognized.
The benefit of stealth comes at the cost of a much longer travel time. What would take a one to one and a half days' trip will now take two to three days.
---------------------
Night has fallen, Time to fly. I think I will try to rest during this first flight.
---------------------
It is just before dawn, We have landed somewhere in the forest just off of the path. I need to go hunting, My food stores are low.
---------------------
... Is that a Treant? What is wrong with it? It looks to be in pain. Maybe I should go investigate. My Dragon friend is not far away should this be something I cannot handle.

As I approach the Treant, I hear a sound behind me... I turn around to see a large Elk charging me!
I swiftly dodge the charging beast as I pull an arrow out from my quiver.

The beast's momentum keeps it going towards the Trean... Where is the Treant?

Never mind that, I must put the beast down. I pull back my bow and hit the Elk right In the heart, Killing it instantly.

As it dies, I see a dark magical essence flow out of the body.

It seems as though this was a trap, This creature was possessed by some form of dark magic.
I should probably refrain from eating the heart, Or Brain if that is the case. Just to be safe. But the rest of the meat should be fine.

My arrow should probably be destroyed as well. It could be cursed now for all I know.
---------------------
The Dragon, Who's name I now know to be Nalasak, And I shared the fresh meat from the kill after I told him of my experience.

This troubled him, But he reassured me that the meat should be safe.

I had him destroy my arrow before we took off into the night again.
---------------------
It is the 3rd day of our trip, Nalasak is visibly worried about what I told him, And wants to take to the skies at just before dusk this time so he can return to Celtington quicker.

I have told him that we will. Hopefully the people of Grans Port are somewhat inattentive.
---------------------
After a quick stop to make sure nobody walks the streets, I am going to have Nalasak drop me off at the lighthouse that sits just between the rich and poor sides of town. It is decently dark now, Unless someone is actually watching, We won't be seen.
---------------------
We have landed. Before he left, I asked Nalasak if he could spare any scales, And he agreed.

It has been a long trip, I had best get inside the lighthouse.

Perfect! A dark place for me to hide out and plan my next move. So long as I keep it maintained nobody should think to come up here.

(BTW, In case anyone wonders, The posessed Elk that attacked me was not in any way related to the ritual killings. I figured that may be confusing after thinking about it.)

Day 255
     Dear Journal

Regarding the lighthouse, the only particular interest I had surveyed was a lean person in dark clothes. At first peeking through some of the windows along the body of the towers. Then they went atop the lighthouse for only a few moments before looking what seemed to be directly at me. Horrifying.

I would like to know what they're up to. I came here for a tale, and a tale is what I'll get. Dragon's don't give rides to just anyone. Especially not into populated areas.

Well, between this paragraph and last, I visited the docks to get a ride to the lighthouse. A three-minute ride off the coast, mind you. They all wanted over 40 silver coins for "initial ferrying fees". Initial ferrying fees, my hat. Sure, I have the money, but that's absurd. Absurdly absurd. What an absurdly absurd absurdity.

I will visit, Siilchriillion, an old friend and his brewery tonight. He's got a very old reserve of a fine black ale. He's the one that got me hooked on the drink.

Day 256
    Dear Journal

Visited Siilchriillion yesterday evening. I didn't get to taste his reserve. He's got it locked up tight outside of the fortunate side of town for safekeeping. Apparently over the past month, there's been dozens of attempts by peasants to steal it. When will they learn to keep their filthy fingers off of the things that don't belong to them. I do wonder what they want it for so badly, though.

The barrel would be large enough for one man to carry off, but not very quickly. I'd say just hire a mercenary to go protect it. Those malnourished folk couldn't put up much of a fight for very long.

I'll probably hire one this evening for my old friend. However, knowing those hired-swords organisations, they won't arrive till midday tomorrow. That's fine, though. Eighteen hours shouldn't make a difference to thick stone walls and three log doors each jarred shut with another log.

Between this paragraph and the last, I hired a mercenary. The whole time I felt I was being watched. I hired the largest brute there. An Orc who seems to have spent most of his life in a military. I could fit into his biceps had I crawled into fetal position. Nothing should get pass this guy.

Day 257
     Dear Journal

I am not happy. Not at all. It is slightly before noon, and that brute has arrived. Apparently around early dawn, two to three hours before the sun was up. That fool was unconscious when I got here, and the reserve is GONE! He tells me he saw nothing. I am going to march right down to that organisation and demand a refund. Then I WILL go and find that ale. I am furious.

As i search the Lighthouse I am living in, I realize that there are a lot of windows in this place, Maybe I should cover them up to keep anyone from noticing me.

Everything else seems to be just fine. I've got plenty of stuff to tinker with in here.
I even found an old spyglass in here.

Now all I need to do is check out the light of the lighthouse to make sure everything is in working order.

Everything seems to be working.
While I am up here, I should see if the lenses to this spyglass are working, As well as take a look at this new town.

To the Southwest and onwards seems to be the poor side of town, No doubt that is where I will find the black market and be able to tell what is worth stealing around here.

To the Northwest and onwards seems to be the rich side of town. I'm going to guess that is where the majority of my work will come... Hold on, Atop a tower on a nearby manor. Is that a person? He appears to be looking right at me. There is no telling what he saw. But if I play this off casually, A man in a house like that, He most likely won't care enough to check in to things.
---------------------

Some time has passed, And the man has disappeared into his manor.
I may as well see what I can find out about the town.

At the small dock on this island, There is a single row boat, With the other available space empty. Convenient.

Making sure to take what I need, I begin my trip across the water.
---------------------

That didn't take long, Only around 3 minutes to get across. Although there was some additional travel time as I rowed the boat into a more hidden area.

I have entered the poor side of town to note that there are no city guard in this section of town. Quite interesting to say the least. It seems that most security would be either private security, Or hired security. Mercenary types and the like.

I have decided to go to one of the local taverns, The Belligerent Orc. The sign shows a graphic of a crudely drawn Orc covered in blood.

If there were ever a place to overhear information about the criminal underground, This is it.

Upon walking in, The first thing to hit me is the smell. A group of large Orcish mercenaries seem to be eating something awful. Let's hope my stay here is brief.
----------------------

I've gotten the information I need.
A peasant walked in and explained the trouble he had in stealing a reserve of aged black ale. He said it is at least a century and a half old.
I don't know enough about black ale to tell if that is a legitimate claim, Or just embellishment.

However I do know that it is valuable. One bottle would fetch several platinum. That is good enough for me.

Apparently the reserve is not all that heavily guarded. It sits between four sturdy stone walls about four to five metres tall with three large doors blocking entrance.

The doors do not open from the outside, So I would imagine at least one person is stationed there, If not more.

Perhaps I shall scout out the location tomorrow, But it is almost dawn. I should get back to base and rest.

The smoke wafted around Al's head like a sentient cloud of light magenta and hints of cyan. He took deep breathes and and drew his index finger across the page, reading the text on the page to himself. He exhaled a great plume of smoke as his eyes widened. The more information he took in, the more worried he became. He placed the pipe back to his mouth and continued to read.

Al began to pace around his study with book in hand, all the while partaking in his best herb cache. The ancient text mentions a cult, very old, that used animal portions to slaughter their sacrifices. The more interesting section of this tome was a mention of primordial creature. Some being from days long gone, a radiant being of immeasurable power. In many accounts, this creature was almost viewed as a malevolent god of sorts.

Al took many more puffs of his pipe that evening, among other things. His flagon was currently almost empty and he required more wine before retreating to bed. Something did not sit right with Al, this cult was slaughtering folk with fairly non-aggressive creatures body parts. In the text, many cults used Dragon teeth or Minotaur tusks. Al wondered...perhaps it was to throw off any investigators of said crime.?

As Al approached his own wine cellar, he felt a cold clammy draft. His cellar was air tight, and therefore could not exhale such distinct attributes of air. He slowly stepped down into the cellar, and felt a dark force surround him. Just as quickly as he sensed the change of energy, he was flung against the wall half way on the other side of the cellar. Al could barely move as the dark energy engulfed his being, keeping him pinned to the stone walls that felt...unnatural.

Before Al's eyes, a dark shadow began to form from the corner of the room. It's body was that of a humanoid at least seven feet tall, it's body covered in half cloak and half plate mail. It's face was adorned with scars, from what Al could see, and piercing orange and red eyes. It did not speak immediately, but simply...took in the scent of Al. It almost seemed to understand what Al was, that he possessed a wide repertoire of magic.

The beings face closed in on Al and exhaled with a guttural sound. It placed it's face near Al's ears and began to whisper dark prophetic truths into his brain. "JACK OF SHADES...YOU HAVE BEEN TOO CURIOUS OF MY MASTERS PLANS. HE KNOWS WHAT YOU WANT, AND WHY YOU SEEK HIM. HE SUGGESTS YOU CEASE YOUR MEDDLING OR YOU WILL UNDERSTAND ANOTHER LEVEL OF PAIN NO HUMAN HAS ENDURED."

Al was released from the dark beings grasp, and fell to the floor in pain. Just as quickly as the event happened, the room cleared of dark magic and everything felt normal. Al simply sat there in wonderment, trying to figure out if the Oracles would understand. Or, if he simply had to go over their heads and return to Trium to consult the Court Of Magi. A god could defeat this being, but without the support of that patron saint's followers...Al stood no chance.

It is midday, Roughly two hours after noon if I were to guess.

There isn't all too much I can do right now aside from prepare and plan.
---------------------
I found some night root on the island. Night root powder makes for a very powerful natural sedative. Perhaps I can put it in a smoke bomb to create a cloud of it when thrown.
---------------------
It is now just past dusk. Time to set out for my scouting mission.
---------------------
After quite a bit of searching from the rooftops, I found the place, No doubt about it. Just as it was described, Four walls, Four to Five metres tall. The only entrance into this miniature keep being three sturdy wood doors that are barred from the inside.

I will need a grappling hook or something similar to get in.
---------------------
I checked the ports around the town, And I think I have found what may be a pirate vessel.
Perhaps I can grab a hook from there before the crew gets back.

Well, I found one, But it is almost dawn. It'll be hard to smuggle the ale out in a crowded street.
Time to go home for now.
---------------------
I decided to go out in the day after I woke up so I can observe the city life. The wealthy portion seems to have a guard, Whereas the poor side doesn't.
It makes me wonder, Did the captain of the guard give up on it because of too much criminal activity, Or because of a mindset that the poor aren't worth protecting?
Did crime drive the guard out, Or did the lack of a guard let crime fester?
---------------------
It is late evening, And people in the poor side of town are starting to go inside their homes.

Time to get to work
---------------------
I think I saw something very odd.
The gnomish vigilante from Celtington. What is he doing all the way out here?

It is him! This is really weird. I guess you could say he is a... Gnomead... That was terrible, Drak. This is why you took up thievery rather than being an entertainer.

He seems to be hiring a very large orcish mercenary. I wonder why.
I remember overhearing that the ale was owned by a gnome, Is this really who owns it?
---------------------
The gnome left for the wealthy side of town, I don't think he is the gnome who owns the ale, But I think I should be careful regardless.
---------------------
I have waited over by the compound for a couple hours now, No sign of that orc. I don't think he will be a problem.

The wall was surprisingly easy to scale. I guess those peasants really were amateurs.
As I suspected, There is a gatehouse with a man who opens the gates as necessary. Right in the centre of the compound is a big stone building with a single locked door as entry.

The door lock was easy enough to pick. I guess the guy will learn not to skimp on security next time.

Inside are various smaller things, Some gold, And other things. Too bad I can't come back here to clean this place out.

I think I have found it. It is a rather large barrel. I think I would be able to carry it out, Just not that quickly. I need to knock the gate man first, There is no way this is going over the wall.

Well, I have gotten the ale to the gate after knocking the guard out. Now all I have to do is make sure the coast is clear on the other side.

Just as I thought... The orcish mercenary from earlier. One of these night root smoke bombs should put his lights out.

I threw the bomb behind him, Once it exploded, It took no time for him to fall to the floor with a thump.

I have dragged the Orc into the compound. I am not taking any chances here. I will be long gone by the time anyone finds him now.

Now all I need to do is take this ale somewhere safe, And line up a buyer...

((Well, this RP has been played before by me a long time ago. So I have had ideas and thoughts about the layout of the land. Only issue is this: "~The Sylac Forest:These are the main area's of the land in which this story takes place, all places are inside this forest. It is a large forest of mythical proportions and no creature human or other has seen it all." Technically, no being has seen it all, so it would be rather hard to make a drawn map. :/ I sort of leave it to the players imagination to figure out how it all connects.))

((OOC: I have tried, it's not so easy. One would think it would be, but due to the size of the establishments thus far it's hard to chart it all and assume what it left. But it it part of a large piece of land, part of it is inland and the other is near the ocean. The main issue is, lands that have yet to be found/created for the RP. It presents a sort of...paradox in a sense. One could map it, but they'd have to change the map continuously to shape it to the forests desires. The forest also moves and evolves over time, but unlike natural geological movements. Once we get further into the story, and I create more places, then maybe we could attempt it?))

Day 258
     Dear Journal

I managed to get forty percent of the mercenary fees back. Which is better than nothing, suppose. They don't normally do refunds for any purpose.

As for that thief, they've got another thing coming. I've enchanted a mirror with the capability of recalling the face of one who peers into it. Afterwards, I mounted it upon the door of a safe in one of the guest rooms of Grandfather's manor. The safe has gems in it. Nothing incredibly valuable, but definitely worth stealing. Now, I will request the staff to keep away from the windows and doors of the entire manor during night. I shall spread a tale of the deer antler murders becoming ever prevalent. That would scare them.

Speaking of spreading tales, about a two drinks pass noon, I went around the edge of the pauper's district telling the children and drunks of valuable gems to be sought after in a multitude of buildings in the wealthy district. This includes Grandfather's. I'll give it two or three days before all of the denizens know of the gems, and all of the locations have been hit. Likely by the same thief who took the ale. Possibly even the thief from Celtington, the scumbag. Perhaps... could it be?... oh, what a tale it'd be.

Let me see, there were definitely at least over thirty locations I've mentioned to the peasants. I lost count of them all. That thief will be living the highlife... till he quickly, and painfully, comes down from his high... by force.

Day 259
     Dear Journal

Eleven locations have already been struck. I am writing this paragraph over my morning meal. Circlets, engagement rings, dowries, precious gems and heirlooms. They've been taken and already reported to the guard. However, no case of breaking in entering, or even the theft save for the missing items, in most of the locations. Chances are there's more than one thief. Which is to be expected coming from that miserable district. Most of them, though, DEFINITELY the ale thief. So clean, so quick.

Some time after noon now. Nineteen locations hit. Same story as before. Most are clean. Grandfather's hasn't been hit yet.

Twenty-one thefts today. Same story. Still not Grandfather's. I'm about to head upstairs for my nightly respite.

Day 260
     Dear Journal

Twenty-eight thefts. It's half between morning meal and noon. The city guard are going crazy. "Who's the thief?" "Who are the thieves?" "Why are we being cursed by the gods?".

I shall leave for a stroll. I am craving a pudding. The bakery a block has been preparing them all morning, and I can smell them from my window.

URGENT! Thirty-four locations have been hit. It is now after noon. Grandfather's is one of them. The robbery was clean, too. It was THE thief. Now I need only to check the mirror and take a sketch of his visage. Unfortunately, this will have no effect over my abilities to trace him with magic, but at this point, it may not be necessary.

The thief's sketch has been taken. I will present this to the guard after the robberies seem to have ended.

Day 261
     Dear Journal

I write this at evening. I may have done something terrible. Fifty-three locations have been hit. It seemed to have finally stopped, but I did not realise it would be this devestating. There has been a mandatory curfew for BOTH districts implemented about a drink after noon. An hour before dark, EVERYONE but the city guard must be inside. Also, no one may enter or leave the city. All so the guard can catch the thief. I have royally screwed up. Tomorrow morning, I shall turn in the sketch of the thief.

The thief, or at the very least, the entirety of treasure horde he accrued, will be returned very soon to the rightful owners of each piece.

Perhaps this is a hidden blessing. The poor district may finally achieve a long-term watch by the guard.

I am ecstatic to get my ale back soon.

Day 262
     Dear Journal

I turned in the sketch only minutes ago. I explained how I caught him. The mandates have been loosened, but are still in play. Wanted posters will go up in an hour. I will keep one with me tucked into my journal.

Day 263
     Dear Journal

A good half of the horde was found in a footlocker stashed on a rowboat in a hidden location on the far end of the docks. The keg of ale was found HALF EMPTY in an old cellar under a tavern in the unfortunate district. The mandates were released. It is expected the thief left, as he was nowhere near his cache. The rest of the horde has been claimed as indefinitely lost. He probably made off with about ten to twenty platinum.

Day 264
     Dear Journal

I feel terrible for throwing the city into chaos. I will turn myself in for unintentionally perpetuating a serious crime due to declassification of valuable information to potential thieves. I will probably be sentenced a year and a half in jail. However, Grandfather may post bail, or some sort of sentence relief. As prestigious as he and I both are, it shouldn't be very long I'd need to stay in there.

On the plus side, the unfortunate district seems to have some law stationed there. Not nearly enough to keep it as clean as the wealthy district, but definitely a start.

Day 265 - Day 1 in jail
     Dear Journal

I am in jail. It is cold. I was fed burnt bread and a rotten pear. My sentence is three weeks. Not too bad, I suppose. My coinpurse and I had to talk to the captain of the guard to convince him to let me keep my journal, and have him keep me supplied with ink.

Day 266 - Day 2 in jail
     Dear Journal

I miss Chriil. He must be worried sick. I had a raw potato, a cup of water, and a chicken leg today.

Well, I lined up a buyer for the ale. A rather short elvish male with darker skin.
He plans to sell it for a profit to some tavern. I could have gotten more by removing the middleman, But these tavern owners are shady. There's no guarantee that they wouldn't try to rat me out if they get caught.

In addition, I am tired of carrying around this keg of ale instead of doing something actually productive.
---------------------

Interesting. I've overheard talk of at least thirty locations of value.

Time to get to work...
---------------------
It's almost morning. I'd say I hit about seven places for all they are worth to me.
---------------------
I don't normally stay out after morning stealing, But the city guard here seems to be basically incompetent.
It's about noon. I'd say I hit another six or seven locations.
---------------------
Another day has come, I've lost track of how many places I have hit.
My antics haven't gone unnoticed though. The City Guard is stirred into a frenzy trying to find out more on me. There are posters all over town promising reward to anyone who can give information leading to the capture of the thieves.
---------------------
Last hit for the day, This one is interesting. This is the manor where I saw the man looking at me on the lighthouse.

I've made off with a few paintings which I removed from their frames, As well as several gold trinkets. The most interesting thing I found was in a safe hidden behind a mirror. In it were a couple of mundane gemstones.

But the real item of value was a gem composed of something known in master thieving circles as Void Glass.
These are practically impossible to buy because most thieves who have them tend to keep them.

I highly doubt the owner knows what this is, Otherwise it would have been hidden better.
---------------------
I have went to a lens crafter in the poor area of town with the Void Glass and gave the average height, Lanky man the material and my designs.

Void Glass is a very odd material. Even archmages have a hard time explaining it or its origin.
All that matters to me is that different combinations of lenses allow sight of different things.

Some combinations will allow me to see the shine of Platinum, And Gold through cloth or certain thin walls. Some configurations can pick out light in places where very little exists, Or allow visibility of the body heat of certain animals, Humans, Orcs, Deer, Etc. But not Snakes, Lizards, Fish, Or elves for whatever reason.

It could probably be extremely useful for doctors if it is capable of seeing through tissue.
Too bad my sample size is so small. That's the problem. I only have enough for two lenses. That gives me three possible functions. Luckily the three that are most useful to me line up with this.
---------------------
The guard has put up a curfew, How cute. Unfortunately for them, It only makes it easier for me. The less people on the streets, The less people that can spot me.
---------------------
Well then... I guess I got too cоcky... Someone must spied a glance at my face somehow. There are wanted posters all over the town. No reward for some reason though.

I had better lay low for a while...
---------------------
It's been about three or four days of not much. Unfortunately, The guard found half of my stashed goods. As well as my boat. I haven't went back to the lighthouse since. I have mostly been listening in on-

"HEY! Mmmfff- LET ME G-"

What was that?

"Hold still you little brat! You shouldn't be out after the curfew."

"Let's just throw her in a cell, Vern. She's a thief. Boss said all thieves do hard time, No matter what."

"Can't argue there."
"Let's go you little brat."

I try to go to the source of the voices, But they are gone before I can.
They are going over to the jail. I bet I can beat them there.

I will not stand for this... They have taken a young orcish girl into custody, Probably only about eleven to thirteen years of age.

I'm getting her out of there.
---------------------

This should be simple enough, Use an illusory shapeshift to get in, Knock out the guards, And get her out of there.

Well that was easy. Now to spring the girl...

"Stay away from me"

She says to me, Thinking I am a member of the guard.
I quickly drop the illusion. She instantly recognizes me.

"Are you-"

"Yes."
I say, Cutting her off mid sentence.

"*Gasp* You're the master th-"

"Be quiet, Will you? I'm trying to get you out of here.

She nods silently

As I am walking out, I notice someone in the corner of my eye... The Gnomead. I look at his book and see a copy of a wanted poster. My wanted poster.

He must have been the one to catch my face...

ℵ~Vexlan Necrozian~ℵ

The lair was damp, dripping, and beyond dark. The sight of darkness is nothing compared to the feeling of darkness. Most agree darkness is the absence of light, and that evil is the absence of good. Darkness and evil can coincide with a strong enough will. This lair exuded darkness and decay, evil and magic.

A cloaked being hovered over a slab in the, perhaps, brightest part of the lair. A chandelier made of human remains hovered above the slab, black wax candles melted in each of the sconces. Below the macabre chandelier lie a body, it appeared to be slightly decayed itself. The being was muttering some type of ancient incantation. The eyes of the being started to glow a dark reddish color.

The corpse on the slab began to writhe slightly, the fingers cracking and the joints slowly popping into place. The corpse took in a deep breath and it's solid white eyes opened up. The dead body had a renewed essence of life, albeit...an unholy one. The necromancer standing over the slab smiled, he was getting better and better by the day. The corpse rose from the slab, turned it's body off the table, and walked down the hall.

Vexlan ran to his tome and re-read the contents, his spell was text book spot on. The corpse was more put together than the previous experiments, the others simply decayed at an accelerated rate. This one was actually beginning to not only halt it's decay, but heal parts of it's destroyed body. This was a big break through in Necromancy. No other before Vexlan could actually pull this kind of dark magic off.

As he sat at his study, he noticed various contents of the tome that he omitted from his other spells prior. His master never taught him ENTIRELY the ancient language of the Necrosis Whispers. Which meant, for him at least, that some spells were off limits. Unless, unless Vexlan could learn the language himself. He always thought of himself as a rather talented linguist.

Sitting before me in a cell is the gnome. He is very clearly displeased by the fact that I am out here, And he is in there.

I choose not to talk to him directly. Instead, I take his journal and ink. To this he makes himself clear that he wants it back.

I write something down in the book, Purposely at an odd angle to be obnoxious.

After which I give him the book back and place the key to his cell just outside the door.

Time to go...
---------------------

There was no sign of the gnome following me. If he did take me up on my offer, He had to think about it.

The girl, Who's name I now know to be Shakala, Is currently in the lighthouse. She made me promise to teach her things. Like not getting caught. And how to liberate coinpouches without the person feeling anything.

I think it's best if we wait until the town is on less of a high alert for that, She agrees.

I did dig out some of my old illusory magic books for her to read, So that's something.

It'll be interesting to see how this all unfolds...

Story of Two face
Hydra

It had been a fortnight since Titaro had given Two face the kill contract bearing the name Gregory Lechance.
Two face had spend this time tracking the man on his daily routine, day and night around both the rich and poor districts of Grans port.

Gregory Lechance was not a member of the city council but his influence among the people allowed him to conduct his self as if so. The man had a simple ideal, "if the will of a man could not be bought with his gold, he would buy another one and give him the means to take his place". Normally his bribery was ignored or embraced by other, however his recent influencing of the harbour master meant he had control over all import and export in Grans port. An act that had not been received well by his other business patrons.

Two face had chosen a porcupine quill tipped in belladonna to be administered using a blow pipe at close range. The execution of the task would be easy but with the recently imposed curfew travelling around the city would require a little more finesse. In the dark of night the rooftops of the houses in the rich district would provide an ample pathway to Gregory's townhouse, provided the clay roof tiles supported Two faces weight.

It was Dusk, Two face had gained access to the roof from the Rosewood inn and crawled across the rooftop tiles to Gregory's Town house. He carefully lower himself down on to the balcony of the master bedroom that encroached from the building overlooking a private courtyard below.

Sitting on a stone bench below in the courtyard was Gregory, indulging in the written works of a local poet with a small goblet of wine and a place of cold meat. Two face raised the blow pipe to his lips, with a strong huff of air from his lungs into the pipe, the quill was propelled from the pipe spiralling down into Gregory's neck. The Quill pierced his neck with the barbs anchoring into the skin.
Two face murmured to himself "cut off one head and two more will grow back"

His head hurt, his body ached, his mind was filled with many questions and no answers. Jack didn't understand, how had some malevolent energy infiltrate his tower? Part of his research was finding out what this thing was. The other part, the other part was him asking other folk certain questions and hoping the answers are right. Not to mention, he had to visit the Circle Of Magi soon. THAT was definitely something he did not plan to do lightly.

His fingers thumbed through every book and tome he could find, anything that helped him understand this dark being. So far, not much has been written on the subject of a dark matter. He would need to divulge a far darker library of knowledge. His first stop would have to be the local tavern, many folk their knew dark secrets of the land. Jack also had a few friends of ill-repute whom knew of illicit books and tomes that gathered such knowledge. Jack closed the tome, took a puff of his pipe, and put on his cloak to visit his 'friend' at the tavern.

Jack was on his way, in a most dangerous haste, to meet his contact and friend: Drak Jalin. He knew that Drak would know a great many things on what Jack was seeking. This evil, it required quick and direct decisions and actions. His last stop would not be Drak, he did have to convene with the Circle Of Magi as well. He hardly thought they would be happy to see him, most likely annoyed at the very least. Jack would have no time for petty squabbling and past indiscretions that allowed future meetings to be tainted with dishonor or disbelief, regardless of biased opinions.

Drak, perse, was not someone who knew everything about magic. He was the right person to get answers on where to begin ANY endeavor. Information was key at this point, Jack needed a start if he ever hoped to reach the end. Drak was also a linguist, which would help in finding anything Jack may have missed. Drak and Jack go way back, way before a great many things in Jack's life. Jack started as a thief with Drak back in the day, small time things at first.

Jack didn't have time to reminisce over his past, this threat was real and needed to be dealt with. However, Jack did not know how long this would take or how strong the coming battle would be. He knew he would have to fight this being...there was no going back, there was no running from this. Jack may have ran from other small time things in his past, but nothing this big ever deterred him from his goals. Jack figured he could have a few smokes, a drink or three, and go over the facts and clues with Drak for the evening. Tomorrow, before dawn, he would travel to the Circle Of Magi and pray to the gods he was heard...

((OOC: This is true. We attempted it, but my part on this game is to be free of any rules as far as D&D is concerned. This more of a creative writing role play. Not a Dungeons & Dragons type role play. I love those, but this allows more freedom, and less restrictions as far as rule sets are concerned. Not to mention, rolling for things tends to make it a bit longer than usual when combat is introduced.

Yes, this is also true. Being a PURE Kraken means you are COMPLETELY dedicated to being an under sea creature with no human attributes. Now, if you were part aquatic, you could morph if need be and still retain human forms when on land. Or, like Dryym said, you could be cursed etc. Just talk to me if you need help modifying/writing this character.

Dryym is also correct, this universe is not on earth at all. It's set in a completely different world and realm. No Greeks exist here. Just message me if you need help revising this character, otherwise...it's not bad.

((ooc: I forgot to mention, I believe Dryym tried to make a map of this realm..or PWR. I forgot which one. If you truly want to attempt to make it, by all means you have my permission. I wanted this forest to be ambiguous as far as geography is concerned. I wanted it to be a living thing that constantly altered itself and never allow humans to map it's placement. However, I was a bit negligent when it came to placing certain locations in the game. Since it was located in specific directions, this forest would have to remain still for them to remain in their spot. The interior of the forest does move, but generally in a clockwise movement. Anyway, feel free to interpret the designs as you see fit, and I will let you know if they are correct for the locations I mentioned in the OPs. Just another discontinuity on my part. :P ))

As it turns out, The curfew has had no impact on the tavern life at night.
Some are mercs, Some are con artists trying to sell their "Miracle Elixir" or "Mystical Legumes".
Most of them are just the typical scum.

These taverns are the places that the law doesn't dare touch. Such a nest of treachery would take more men than they have to extinguish.

If someone starts a fight in here, It echoes right into every crime lord's ear.
Some simply don't care about such small matters, But all you need is one enemy to make your life a whole hell of a lot harder.
-----------------------

I have since left the tavern only to be confronted by a very strange man, A tall fellow. He looks emaciated and extremely pale. He simply stands before me for what feels like hours before speaking in an almost whisper tone.

"Drak Jalin, In the days that pass, A man, Tall, Wise, But yet very foolish will come before you in search of your aid. You are to turn him away."

"What's in it for me if I do?"

"Why, You will not gain an enemy as powerful as the master, Of course."

"How would I even help him? I don't know you or your master. I think you're asking the wrong person here."

"THE JACK OF SHADES MUST NOT FIND THE SCROLL! THE SCROLL OF NECROSIS WHISPERS MUST BE RETU--rned---to---the---mast"

Shortly after ceasing to talk, The man shriveled up and turned to dust.
Typical minions, Always telling someone exactly what they aren't supposed to hear.

I guess "The Master" didn't like that, Seeing as his minion is now dust.
---------------------

I've returned to the lighthouse island after a quick bit of research. The scroll of necrosis whispers is a piece of the puzzle to learning the language of the same name. Whoever wants this must be into some serious dark magic.

Currently it resides in the basement of a wealthy mage's mansion. Someone by the name of Alden Darocoff; Too bad it won't stay that way for long.

I walk into the lighthouse and see my old friend chatting with Shakala.

"Jack! I found what you're looking for. You up for a job? For old times' sake?"

Ahh, the port.

The finest place for a man like me, water and land..

I emerged from the crashing waves, and closed my eyes; morphing was easier said than done. My skin shredded before me, and my human form appeared. I paced over to the bar across the street : I needed some beer. The bitter taste that left you wanting, no, needing more..

I sat in the usual corner spot, and drank. Not one drink, nor two or there. I had four.

My legs wobbled beneath me, and my heart stopped. I fell onto the floor, my heart rarely beating. I woke in a bed.. A warm one, like the kind you'd find in the hospital. Then it hit me.

Jack turned around after hearing a familiar voice, it was his old friend Drak Jalin. Jack smirked and immediately turned away from his conversation, "Pardon me, I have an old scoundrel to greet." He ran over to Drak and gave him a firm hand shake, and a brotherly hug. "It's been too long, old friend. We live in the same region and we never see much of each other." He laughed heartily and took out his pipe. It was afternoon and he needed to refill for the coming events of the day.

Jack placed the old wood pipe to his lips, snapped his fingers, and lit the sweet smelling herbs inside. He inhaled deeply, and exhaled light indigo smoke. "So, my friend, what can I do for you?" Jack offered over the pipe to his old friend. "And, did I hear something about...a job!?" Jack's eyes lit up with delight! It had been some time since he was last working with Drak, and hopefully this would break up his search for answers. Sometimes, one must clear their mind by not thinking about present issues. This would be a good distraction, and perhaps...perhaps something would que into his mind about the mysterious evil that now haunts him.

Day 267 - Day 3 in jail
     Dear Journal

I don't quite feel very right. I've been squatting over my chamberpot all of the night and all of today. The scent is rancid. The day is hot. I'm fatigued. I asked the guard to empty my pot, but the only one on duty hasn't been in for hours. I haven't even been delivered dinner.

Day 268 - Day 3 in jail
     Dear Journal

No dinner, no breakfast, no lunch, no dinner again. I'm getting ravenous. There's not even any water, and the guard hasn't came back. Still been feeling ill, and the pot is starting to overflow. I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Day 269 - Day 4 in jail
     Dear Journal

No food, I'm starved. I'm dehydrated even worse. Especially after my sickness, which is still beating down on me as hard as the sun on the town today. I couldn't stand the vile pot any longer, so I went to empty it out of my window. In doing so, I probably spilt a third of the full and overflowing pot onto my clothes and skin. I can't even clean off. I'm so exhausted.

Day 270 - Day 5 in jail
     Dear Journal

Chrill has located me. The first good thing in days. It hurts he must see me like this, though. On the topic of seeing, I barely can at all. My eyes hurt and burn as I do anything. My stomach has turned so very sour. Bile and feces must have found their way from my hands to my face. I still haven't seen the guard. I wish I could just get a bite to eat.

I write this following passage in the evening. The sound of rain had pulled me from my brief midday respite. I reached my hand out the window and drank from my hands. A light rain is all that came, though.

Day 271 - Day 6 in iail
     Dear Journal

I cannot think. I'm starving. I need to eat. The guards seemed to have just simply disappeared. If I don't eat soon, I fear I'll become delusional

Day 272 - Day 7 in jail
     Dear Journal

I must occupy my mind. I'm afraid I nearly succumbed to a horrific thought.

My Oratorium shall be a grand building. A grand building in a grand city. Hemispherical. Marble. Marble and ivory. A stage to take up a fifth of the interior. The building will allow for a thousand, no... five-thousand patrons to attend at once. In the center of the stage, a tree shall be magically grown to be strong and tall. The tree shall be a Golden BlisterBloom Fae-Oak.

They are the most gorgeous of trees. I saw one once in an adventure way south of here. It was my first adventure out of cub hood. I met Jack of Shades there.

Jack of Shades is a good friend. He knows good spells.

I know good spells. I learnt many of them to benefit my good friend, Chrill.

Chrill is soft. I wonder where he's been. His skin is so tender. He must have been relaxing.

Relacing and eating. He's been getting fat, it looks like.

   Fat chrill.

Description: Pattrichus Pattrichuson, son of Pattrichus Tarkuson, is an honour guard for the politician, Rekh'Met Ka'Hi-metmet. ((OOC: Really, my moral and ethical standpoints are pretty neutral. I just didn't feel like taking the cop-out method. I also didn't want to write weeks worth of jail cell stuff. Besides, I was getting tired of Ych. I'll still build on him as a character, probably. Just... only on his past, because his future is going to be very dull. Most undead servants' lives are.))

Before me stands a tall man with sharp features adorned in fine robes and jewellery. He wields a staff and more often than not has some form of smoke emitting from his face. None would guess from his appearance that he is, Or rather, Was one of the greatest thieves in the greater half of this last century. He's on par with myself, Only bested by the true master thief of the ages, My mentor from so many years ago... Heh. Jack was one of the first people I met here in the forest. Over the years, He's played up this wiseman act. He may have his wisdom, The search for knowledge is great and all, But the real strength he has is his intuition. Never have I seen someone so easily able to work the ins and outs of magic. You can't learn that.

When I heard that Jack needed my help, I got up and started digging. Now that I've started digging, I really wish I had left all of this buried. Necromancy, Raising the dead, None of this makes any sense... Maybe Jack can make more sense of it once we get this scroll.

"I had a visit from one of your 'Friends'. Luckily for us, He gave away everything we needed."

"Go on"
He said in an inquisitive tone.

"He said that you must not attain the scroll of necrosis whispers. I did a bit more digging and found that it lies in the basement of an uppity mage by the name of Alden Darocoff. He lives in his manor on the richer side of the rich side of town. We're going to relieve him of the scroll and you are going to get to work figuring out what this all means."

"I've heard of the scroll before, It was mentioned in some ancient texts I referenced. The references to it were fleeting and showed no sign of significance."

"I'm just going off of what the minion said. I have a bit of a plan laid out for the job, But it'll be mostly improvised."

"Sounds just like old times. You come up with half a plan, We go in and improvise and come out with a bunch of loot."

"Shut up... Our first challenge is to get there. There's a new captain of the guard since I broke Shakala and that gnome out. He's really picked up on the guard duties and the curfew. Luckily for us, He seems to be targeting only thieves."

"Oh, Well it's a good thing we plan to vandalize this Darocoff guy's house instead of robbing it."
Jack said sarcastically

"The scroll is in Darocoff's basement. In order to get there we need to get over the wall, Sneak past the big orc bodyguards, And then get in the building. After we're in, We need to find a way into the basement."

"That sounds simple enough, What's the catch?"
Jack asks in a playful manner.

"The catch is, I have reason to suspect that his wife is a vampire..."
I reply nervously.

"I'm sorry, I must have misheard. A what!?"

"There is around an 80 percent chance that Elana Darocoff is a vampire. Alden has a history of purchasing large amounts of blood, And unknown medical treatments. In addition, His wife is never seen in public even though he is registered as married."

"Huh..."

"Go get suited up. Oh, And Jack?"

"Yeah?"

I smile as I say
"Leave all of your herbs here..."

A low, eldritch rumble falls down over the only knoll in the small, mist-blanketed cemetery. Hidden by the shade of night, but illuminated by the dull gleam of the moon, Rekh'Met prepares a dark ritual. Necromancy, forbidden magick, returning the dead to life. Not just any life. Impure, recycled, tainted, black. Puritans of magick have used the term "Breath of Maggot" as a derogatory term for this spell. This most despicable necromance laughs soullessly as the thought occurs. The queen mite at the core of this mass of maggot and grub is very clever to the ways of human, and finds humour in the irony. Finally, the ritual arranged, Rekh'Met begins. A crash and bang in the centre of the crude, arcane scrawlings upon the mound of dirt atop the hillock - the dark rite is complete. The gnome's body raises from the dead, back to life. The eyes, gazing endlessly into the night, appearing lightless, are ready to take orders from its new master. This is a fresh thrall for Rekh'Met. The vessel; Ychthirillius the Gnome minstrel. The first of the senator's lead to find the thief known as "Silhouette", the thief who burgled the dozens of rich manors in the port town of Sylac's Forest.

"Where... is your partner? The thief. I want back what he stole..."

((OOC: I've had a lot of the recent story posts, and a lot of the story posts in general. I've also been sort of carrying the time keeping as far as events go. I was kind of hoping someone else would take the lead on tying events together and such. I wanted to work off something else with these new characters.))
