Custom Skins (PC)

Custom Skins

I'm not quite sure if anyone has made a post/topic on this subject yet so i apologize in advance if someone already has.

Custom Skins, something i have wanted Craig to implement since 2013. If there was a way to create your own skins to use in game. Maybe create a website were you can create your skins pixel by pixel, kind of like the popular Minecraft skin creator website. I feel that adding custom skins would make each player more unique and give players more of a choice compared to the standard skins. People would really enjoy this feature if it was somehow implemented. It's not a 'must add' but it would be cool.

Callum.

I'm 62% sure this is already a planned feature.

You may say it's a waste of time but when the guy who tried to invent video games told us we said no one needs it and he almost did not invent it.

We don't use skin, we use avatars that are made up of blocks and it is planed for us to have custom avatars in the future.

I wonder what cool avatars will be made first? It'll be cool to see.

I have a ton, I know JD has some, Derfen has a bunch, Clerical has some.

I get the feeling that someone on this list will be the first to make any cool ones.

I can't wait to see them! Do you think they could potentially be made into unlockables? Or is there a completely separate list full of unlockables that will be released? Just curious.

They won't be made into unlockables for the game, they will be for you to use and share with others the way you can share maps or components or pictures.

Would finally be able to use my avatars to walk around in.
Will have to reskin it though... :/
One shall stand, one shall fall!
A warrior takes sword in hand, clasping a gem to his heart. Engraving vanishing memories into the sword, he places finely honed skills into the stone. Spoken from the sword, handed down from the stone... Now the story can be told...

It'll be quite a while I think until this is actually implemented, as I don't think it's one of Craig's top priorities at the moment. However we'll just have to wait and see.

Don't quote me on this, But I think it will be an easy mod before Craig decides to add it. C# mods have been shown to be able to change GUIs, And the models can be added with XML mods quite easily.

I think all that someone would need to do is make a mod which gives a config menu to decide which NPC models are allowed in the avatar selection screen. Then you can add models with XML, And boom.

I realize that this is oversimplifying the process, But it should work just fine.

As our friendly neighbourhood RGH modders have shown us, It is possible to wear any NPC model as a skin if it has a crouch model assigned to it. So as long as there is a way to make a crouch model for the NPC, It should work just as well the real thing.

Granted, This would only work if everyone had the mod with the models, But that's fine by me as a world creator.

Well that sounds alright.

What if the person wanted their models to have a walking animation, since there will be walking animations soon?

Craig said that the walking animations will be included in with the NPC's model files. So I would imagine it would just be the same as normal.
