[Other] history vs syshistory
« on: January 18, 2018, 05:50:27 PM »
Ok, so I have 'history' figured out. But what about syshistory. After many a forum topic leaving me with a vague understanding of it, my questions are simple. What exactly is the difference? And can I use syshistory to make the game 'remember' a given players' hudbar count between load ins to my map? To clarify, a player has hunger in my world, but they can simply leave and rejoin to replenish it. Player health is monitored between load ins, can it be done for my scripts?

Unless you are having difficulties networking history between players, They should not have their hunger be reset when they join. Not unless you fill it when they join. Syshistory is just history that is global to all players.

Ok. Using info I definitely resolved some possible issues. However, I am still having all 4 of the active histories reset. Nof even one of them remained where it was.(tested) They are mana, hunger, thirst, and sanity. They all run mostly separate of each other, with exception of some scripts that fill them when certain items are used. Also keep in mind that these are all original scripts I made.

i wouldn't ever call them a syshistory to be honest. but that aside all you need to do is not target it at a player and it will automatically go to the "system history" file in the history section.

I don't ever call on syshistory.

Regarding this, it isn't that simple. I have 2, the first is too much to put here and only runs when I start the map. And the other is for joining players. It's also quite a lot.

On a different note, I now have the answer I was looking for regarding the difference between history and syshistory. And I remembered I already have an old topic about my specific problem with this...

Please review the link page and respond through it. This topic can be removed after that.

P.S. To Dryym, can you still play TM on 360? It would be much easier from my map to figure this out.

Yes, as long as you have it downloaded/installed.

I am still hosting 'Castlevania'. I wondered if Dryym could visit my map to view my scripts.

So Dryym, still got a dusty ol' 360?

Ah, I see. Well that's ok. I think there is a way using variables, but they are very confusing to me at this point. I received a script allows a player to have a mark\recall teleport, it uses variables and the game 'remembers' it between load ins. I will post it in my topic 'Scripting in dig deep'.

@ Dryym hopefully...

This topic http://totalminerforums.net/index.php?topic=16177.msg169313#msg169313 has a player join script I would like to have 'remembered' when players rejoin. If you can help with this one I can probably fix the rest of my scripts to do this.
