Your world / [RPG] Re: The Caverns
« on: May 20, 2017, 12:25:29 PM »
With mods you can make unique ores, a wider variety of weapon types, and various kinds of crafting materials, if that interests you. I like the idea of a storyline that goes with the idea you have, but isn't "forced" on the player.

Well, not so much of a different music style, but just super loud audio files, static, old TV broadcast screeches, them cursing non stop.

Perhaps me using "music" was a bad choice...

I would still hate worlds that have tons of mandatory rap.

...which gives me an idea...

Maybe it could be incorporated with the menu/input scripts for radio stations on a world.

Not to mention, you can record your own audio files and use them for NPCs, tutorial areas, lore, etc...

I have plans on creating a world dedicated to rap music, just for you, tater.

It would be very nice if modding allows for imported songs and music.

Could allow nice medieval music for RPGs, dungeon music, boss themes, etc. Not to mention every nobuo uematsu song would do nicely. Technically, since mods aren't considered to be in game, seeing as they are player added, any copywrited music should be fine to add.

...right?

If it does work this way, I fear world hopping, when people are playing really bad music...

Mods exist in the grey area of the law, but by and large as long as they aren't being sold, they won't delve into copyright infringement.

Also, the argument about people playing bad music kind of applies to everything. People can build bad worlds, make bad NPCs, and bad textures. It's just a matter of finding the worlds that don't have that, and reporting players who participate in that kind of stuff.

Why would you report someone for having a different taste in music to you? XD

When I wrote this initially I used pornographic/explicit instead of bad. It came across the wrong way the second time around haha. I won't report someone for having a different taste in music lol

I'd personally say that having no MP at the initial release will be better. It will allow those who play from the start to familiarise themselves with all of the new content, controls etc rather than jumping straight to MP.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's better, not at all. For most players, the time it will take them to adjust to the controls will be miniscule compared to the time it would take to integrate multiplayer into the game after an initial release without it.

One of the nice things about the PC port is that even without multiplayer you still have the capability to share components, maps, and mods via sending files to your friends over the internet.

It still wouldn't compare to the game as it is on 360, since multiplayer is integral to tm, but it's something.

Ideas / Allow momentum to be maintained when exiting fly mode
« on: February 24, 2017, 05:44:37 PM »
My suggestion is to allow momentum to be maintained when exiting fly mode.

Currently, when you exit fly mode via pressing the fly key (in my case, F), then you lose all forward and/or vertical momentum and simply begin falling downwards.

If you were to allow this to be maintained, then players would have the ability to switch between flying quickly and cycling to flying slowly without sacrificing several seconds of travel time.

Additionally, this would allow for some interesting "parkour" style challenges on worlds, where a player must launch themselves using the fly feature into a no fly zone, such that they land on a platform.

And on top of all that, it would make for some sweet cinematic shots.

Now, the disadvantages of this feature are as follows;

1. Players would have to "fly proof" their worlds to prevent from players who are in fly zones to launching to areas they are not supposed to be, in no fly zones.

2. The way that players accelerate under fly will have to be changed. Rather than just maintaining a set speed, utilizing "slow fly" will instead have to be set to either decelerate or accelerate to that specified speed depending on the current speed of the player. And fast fly will have to be set up the same way.

Ideas / Re: French translating ?
« on: February 22, 2017, 03:41:15 PM »
Changing simple things, like the names of items/blocks as well as their respective descriptions, could easily be done through modding.

I only know some basic french, so I would not be of much help, but modpacks that serve translation purposes could very well be done in a day and then uploaded to a file sharing website for others to use.

As for menu items and the like, I'd imagine one would have to modify that through C#, and I'm not sure on the difficulty of that, but it could very well be a possibility?

no audio m8

Ok you don't want?
huh?
im saying that in your video there wasnt any audio in the whole video.you might wanna redo/reupload the video where it has sound playing

Looks like he's speaking in sign language, so audio would be pointless. I'm not sure what he's saying but my girlfriend speaks sign language so I'll ask her sometime later...

I mean a minimum of 10,000 people buy the game each day, so there are still plenty of people playing.

Is the world made up of one file inside of the folder? Or multiple?

If the latter, then compressing it with a file archiver is a good idea. A good free one is 7-zip

It might also help shrink the size to speed up transfers if it's a large file.

It's also a good way to send multiple worlds, components etc... at the same time.

Multiple, so archiving files and sending them through .zip's are your best bet.
