What does the ranged stat do?

It works exactly the same as the Attack skill (melee) in that it determines the chance of your arrow scoring a hit (damage) when it strikes your opponent. It does not determine the max hit or the amount of damage (same as melee).

The max hit is calculated the same way as melee, a product of the arrows damage value and your strength level. The only difference between ranged and melee here is that for ranged, your strength level contributes half of what it does for melee to the calculation.

Leveling range increases its damage

And i believe it increases chance of attack

although both of these effects are so slight you would not notice much difference between 60-80

and they all get a dramatic decrease after level 60.

Or, to be a smarty, The ranged stat is for ranged weapons which make bows barely more useful each level. :3
