There is plenty to do and lots of avatars to unlock! Dig Deep gives a sense of accomplishment like every other gamemode when you finally see your world coming together. Unlike Creative or Survival modes, Dig Deep has a more obvious goal, to find all blueprints and wisdom scrolls. Along with other gamemodes, Dig Deep gives you plenty of creative control over what happens on your map.
Getting Started - BeginningGetting Started - Setting up an HQUsing Your Map Markers to Their Full Potential Cave Exploring - OverviewCave Exploring - PreparationsSpoiler for Cave Exploring:
When setting out to go cave exploring, you don’t want to pack unnecessary equipment, while at the same time, you’ll be wanting to bring certain items on your journey.
Depending on what equipment you have available to dig with. You may want to pack more than one pickaxe.
- If you’re still using wood tools, Pack 3-5 depending on how much digging you plan on doing in caves.
- For Iron, 2 is always a good number of pickaxes to bring.
- For Steel, you’ll want to bring 1-2 depending if you’re digging to get to other caves or not.
- Diamond and above, you should always be set with just one.
Next, you’ll be wanting torches, and plenty of them. When in caves, I find that I burn through torches more than any other tool. Because of that, I tend to being 300 or 400 torches.
A ladders (preferably ropes) are optional but not entirely necessary but can come in handy for when your cave suddenly goes vertical for 30 blocks.
Lastly, try and bring an obsidian block with you that can link to your HQ. If for some reason you can’t bring an obsidian block, pack a chest or crate to store any blocks or equipment that you’ll want to go back for later on. Mark the location and depth of the crate/chest on the map so you’ll know it’s location.
Cave Exploring - Final Tips!Spoiler for Cave Exploring:
Now that you are underground and in a cave, you must decide why you are down there. Are you looking for blueprints and wisdom scrolls? Are you trying to strike it rich? Whatever the case, you’re down in a cave now and ready to explore.
- The torches that you have will really help with lighting up caves. They might not seem necessary, but walking blindly can get very annoying.
- Keep note of what you can and can’t break if using skill levels. I’ve gotten stuck in caves due to not being able to break certain blocks that I could crawl through one way, but not the other. If you are in a cave made of blocks that you can’t break, explore with further caution.
- If playing with combat enabled, be ready for cave-ins. When a cave-in does happen, be ready to place a block over your head and wait for the whole event to end.
- When you come across a rare chest, destroy it after you’ve looted it. The last thing you want is to return to it and be disappointed when nothing is in it.
- If you find a fork in your cave, remember this golden rule; “Right is Always Right” - Mr. Creative (Ex Mr. Dig Deep) When you reach the bottom of it, you can go back up and explore the other route.
- Drop unimportant items once your inventory is getting full. Less necessary items include: Keys, Excess Blocks, A low stack of torches (I mean ~15 or fewer), Depleted tools (always check how many uses they have left).
