It's pretty good if you ever wanted to buy one of the freighter ships or build a home base.  Freighters aren't pilotable and don't seem to attack anything, but are still very useful since each inventory slot holds twice what a starship can and can be summoned to low orbit for easier stocking. The bases snap together pretty quick and have some useful features unlocked by building certain consoles, finding an alien to run them, then completing the tasks given by the alien you 'hired'(for free).  Features are nice like hydroponic farms, storage, galactic market access nodes, and landing pads.  You can also build a base inside your freighter.

They also added a recharge shortcut (d-pad down) so you aren't flopping through menus trying to find oxides for your ship's shields (massive quality of life upgrade).  Also added a creative mode with unlimited resources and a survival mode with increased difficulty.  Survival was pretty brutal.  It was very hard to find time to make units because most of my time was spent crafting shielding sheets and searching for more materials. 

Overall a very nice update that got me playing it again.

Basically if you want help with all that scripting you'll have to give people more info to work with.  If you want fancy particle effects with your water staff you'll need to describe what you want to see in detail.  Honestly, designing particle spell effects for others doesn't seem worth the time and effort if they can't be bothered to even give a description.

Another PS4 exclusive title just became available for pre-order.  If you have a PS4 and haven't heard of Nioh, I highly recommend checking it out.  It's a 3rd person action game set in feudal Japan made by Koei Tecmo's "Team Ninja" of "Dead or Alive" and "Ninja Gaiden" fame.  It's scheduled release date is February 9th, 2017.

It's been paralleled to games such as "Onimusha" and even "Dark Souls".  After playing through the beta till it's expiration I can say I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay due to the depth and difficulty of the combat.  The audio and visuals were also very good.  Co-op matchmaking worked great.

I don't want to spoil any gameplay for anyone checking it out for the first time, so I'll just link an official trailer here:

If you want a better ship the fastest and cheapest way to upgrade is by finding crashed ships.  Eventually you run across one with more slots.

1. Find any orange scanner.

2. Use Bypass Chips and search for Transmissions until you locate a Transmission Tower.  (Once you know what these look like you can skip scanning and just look for them on the surface.)

3. Solve the simple logic puzzle at the tower to locate a crashed ship. (No languages required.)

4. If the ship is better fix it up and claim it. (Even if it's not, they have some goodies for you)

48 slots is the maximum.

Is the script command documentation really of no assistance?

Basically, scripting is a just series of commands, so understanding how they all work is crucial to knowing what to write and the order in which to write it.

E.G. "Why do I need to clear a history? ":  because it produces an undesired result if not cleared.
 
Basically, no one starts to write a script without knowing what they want it to do.  Knowing all the commands makes it possible to know what can be done and what cannot.  Since you are the only one who knows what you want your scripts to do, you really owe it to yourself to learn how to write them.

I'd say that learning to use the conditionals would be easier once you have the commands as a foundation of knowledge.

Look at other people's finished scripts to see how they work especially if they use Histories and/or Conditionals.

Sorry if this wasn't helpful, but I cringe everytime I see a post suggesting a tutorial on scripting because of script's exhaustive possibilities.

You only have to look at all the unanswered "How do I make a _______ script" to see how many other people don't understand the concepts.

(Conditionals seem easy to me, but maybe it's because I have practiced a little with the BASIC programming language.)
The worst part is, I've always wanted magic as a skill in TMF. It's in the game...as a script mechanic. So basically, if I want to take advantage of my favored approach to RPG's I have to learn to script.
You should make that your motivation to learn instead of looking at it as an obstacle.  I'd always thought you'd be on top of the magic scripting meta.

I just realized you can't look straight up or down in game. It seems weird to inhibit such a minute degree of rotation. Why is it?
Its because using those angles can mess with the view controls somehow.

It has a technical term, but I forgot it's name.

I guess if you want to start throwing up deathmatch style games to copy I'll recommend one too.

One I look forward to seeing after the next update is a Counter Strike style lobby where you join and get right into elimination team deathmatches.  Plenty to-do to make it ineresting and unique to the builder(s) and also plenty of opportunity to use all the new scripting, particles, and guns.  It will definitely take more effort to create than a death mine, but getting anything to a playable condition would be better than any death mine.  You could also try adding more features  like votable maps, vote kicks, de_ and cs_ style objectives.  There's still plenty to improve on once a basic playable lobby is finished.

Although the update will make it possible for the massive amount of scripting menus, guns, and nades there's still plenty of groundwork that can be done now: mainly building of maps, lobby menu scripts, buy menus, radio menus, teams(clans)etc..

I think of all the work it'd take to get even just a playable map and maybe I am wrong expecting such effort from one person, but if we could get a team of the best and brightest people around here that are up to the challenge of making something better than the death mines then maybe we'll get a new standard template for deathmatches.  And this just one game as an example of a new type of deathmatch.  If I could make something that good I would only host it on share so everyone could have their own 'lil server to host if they wanted.
