2.3
« on: May 04, 2015, 08:32:19 AM »
The PC port is the main focus for us now. Due in part to the huge disappointment of Microsoft's disgraceful bungling of the Xbox Live Indie Games distribution system.

Two features we want in the initial PC release are Animated Avatars and Infinite Worlds. So we have started work on these features now, along with other items needed to complete the port.

I'll be working on Animated Avatars and Campbell will be working on the final issues to complete Infinite Worlds. Both of us will also be working on the remaining items to complete the port.

Both Animated Avatars and Infinite Worlds will be released on the 360. But not necessarily in the same update. If they are both finished at roughly the same time, then they'll both go into the same update, otherwise not.

Additions:
Animated Avatars.
Infinite Worlds (not confirmed for 2.3)

Animated Avatars:

For Animated Avatars we have decided to keep the existing voxel based models. We will split the models into head, torso and limbs, so that these can be separately animated.

We will also be providing a cutdown creative mode where you guys will be able to build your own avatars, it will even support multiplayer so that you can collaborate on a single avatar.

It will allow you to build the model and define what part is the head, torso and limbs, so that the game can apply the correct animation to each part. It will probably also include a preview feature so that you can see what it might look like in game as you build it.

We will be using the very same tool here to animate the built in avatars.

It's possible we might enable this tool for players to create mobs also, but I can't confirm that yet.
