Creative Features / [Scripts] Stuck in TP loop, please help.

Hello, what you're seeing above is a series of rooms that I made, each room that you see has another room underneath it so there are 24 rooms in total. Each room will have a column in the center that can be walked into and there will be a script block in the center acting as pressure plates so when it is stepped on in the top room, it will teleport me to the bottom room. The problem with using script blocks to do this is that it makes me get stuck in a teleport loop that makes me constantly teleport from room to room. So is there any way to stop this from happening using script block or would it be better to use zones?

Confusion is a challenge map where you must find hints and tips to find your way out to make it home. You will start in a small room where you must then make your way down a long corridor. This is just the beginning of your adventure, you will face many challenges along the way, and will finally have to face the masked madman.


Sidenote: I'm sure this is a plot to a film or game, but I'm unable to unidentify exactly where it's from.
Anyone have any ideas?

You have awoken in a strange room
You are confused and don't know where you are.
"What the hell happened last night?" It was just a few drinks with friends and then home."
Your memory is hazy, you only remember arriving at the bar with your friends.
"Something happened between leaving the bar and home, but I have no memory of anything except arriving."
Now you must find your way out, and try to remember as much as you can.
Make your way down the long corridor.

Creative Features / [Help Needed] How do I script stages (checkpoints) for an obstacle course?

I made a thread about a world in which I was making an obstacle course. This obstacle course is going to have stages, so when a player dies they can return to the stage they reached instead of having to start again. I tried the script suggested by TheDestinedCrab but when I tested it out I still ended up back at the beginning after I died. Here is a quote from TheDestinedCrab which contains the script that he suggested, I made this script exactly as he put it:

The pad bit would be pretty easy. The pad would be a textured pressure plate with a script block underneath.

Here's the script to play when the player steps on the pad:

History [player] [stage] [+1]

And here's the one to play when they die

HasHistory [player] [stage] [=] [1]
Teleport [x,y,z]
HasHistory [player] [stage] [=] [2]

Also, speed and low gravity can be done in zones.

Site Suggestions and Bugs / Emoticon Suggestion

I'm not sure how the system works for adding new emoticons, but I would like to make a suggestion if I may. If this is not considered in the near future, then maybe it could be put aside for future reference... I would like to suggest the rock and roll hand gesture, as this is quite a popular hand gesture among people who enjoy rock/heavy metal music,  and I'm sure there must be some here, the only person here that I know of who likes this kind of music is .ok, and myself. So what do you think? Please let me know if you think this would be a nice addition to the emoticons, below is an example of what I mean

Your world / [Challenge] Obby map (obsticle course) a Roblox inspired map

Hello all

I don't know about anyone else here,  but I am a frequent Roblox player, and I play a lot of obby. So I came up with the idea of making my own obby in Total Miner, but there are a few things that I still need to figure out, like having stages for example. There will be a pad to step on at the start of each stage,  so that if a player falls off and dies, they will return to the stage that they got to, rather than having to go back to the beginning to do the whole thing again. If anybody knows of any ways to make this possible, please let me know, but right now I'm focusing on getting as many stages done as quickly as possible, without rushing it too much. I would also like to know if it would be possible to make something like speed and low gravity boots, because if it is then this will be added at the finish for players to use. If you like the sound of this then please feel free to let me know, and if you have any suggestions they would be much apprecited. If you would like to help on any of the stages then also let me know, because I will probably need help with some stages. I'm hoping that this will turn out to be a good map, as I said if you have any suggestions for an obby map then please feel free to let me know.

Gaming / Xbox One - the good and the bad

Hello everyone!

So I got an Xbox One for my birthday, and I haven't had a chance to use it yet, so I wanted to hear from other people what the good and the bad points are about the console, It's just the normal Xbox One, not the slim version. I looked at some xbox one reviews on youtube and heard that the power brick can be quite loud and annoying at times, but that wouldn't really bother me. So if you have an Xbox One, what do you think some good and bad points would be about it? It's a really nice looking console, and the controller looks like it's great to use. Opinions?


I wanted to know if using a FillRegion script, rather than just using markers, would fill more than the maximum of 500000 blocks? On my test world, a made an explosion script with vrel so that the explosion would follow me wherever I go. The result of that is a lot of holes under the surface that I need to get rid of, because having those huge holes there would cause more lag in multiplayer, since there is obviously air next to them, meaning that the game would still draw the side of the blocks where the air is. Is this possible? I've copied a big cube of grass and tried pasting it in the holes, but that still takes too long, so I was wondering if this would be a quicker solution, or if not then is there anything ense that I can try to speed up the process? One thing is for sure, I won't be doing that again any time soon unless I plan to actually delete the world afterwards or just not save it.

Howdilly doodilly!

I have a digital clock on my map that I currently have set to event driven (player joins.) I now realise that I cannot have this as an event driven script because I need the player joins script to be the hunger/thirst script. I already know that it's possible to assign this script to a script block, so that if a player would like the digital clock displayed all they have to do is press the button, but what I need to know is if it's possible to have a second script assigned to a script block that removes the digital clock should a player decide that they no longer wish to have the digital clock displayed on their screen. I have canceled the running script but that does not remove the clock but stops it from working and makes it get stuck at whatever time it was at when I cancelled it. So is there a way that this can be done? If not then I may not even bother using the digital clock at all and may as well just delete the script for it.


Questions and Answers / Pressing F3 on a keyboard - orange & green lines

I bought myself a keyboard today because I thought it would be easier for scripting, since a chat pad will not fit onto the controller that I have. I was just on my map, not in any menus, and I pressed F3 and some orange & green lines appeared around the edge of the screen. Does anybody know what these lines mean? Is it a developer/tester feature? Here is a picture of said lines:

Creative Features / [Help Needed] Teleport command stopped working

I am having some issues with getting the teleport command to work, it was working just fine a couple of days ago but now it doesn't seem to want to work at all. Here is the script in which I am implimenting the teleport command:

I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look at this and tell me if there is something that I have done wrong, I have look it over a couple of times and to me there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this script. If it is not the script that is the problem, is there anything else that I may have done that would stop the teleport command from working?

Questions and Answers / Question about noise parameters

Hello all

I started a peaceful world today and I forgot to edit the different aspects of the world like max height, sea level ect, and it got me wondering, is it possible to make blocks like gold, cassiterite, flint ect appear on the surface more often by editing the noise parameters in a certain way? What I mean by that is can I make it so they appear on the surface more often than they normally would by messing around with the noise parameters? If this is possible then please could somebody let me know how to do this? If it's not possible then it would be useful for me to know a little more about what the different options in noise parameters do, because I know very little about that option. If there is a thread it would be great if someone could post the link to it...

Your world / Rack City - builders/scripters needed

Rack City

I am currently working on a city map that I plan on making to the scale of the entire map, and need builders, and then I'll also need scripters when some of the building is done. Below you will find pictures, and a list of what needs to be done in the world, and if you are willing to help out I would very much appreciate any help that I can get with this. If you read this thread and decide that you would like to help, then please let me know and I will update the list of current builders/scripters for this map, you can expect to get full credit for any work that you have done.

Here are some pictures of my map as it stands currently, I'm trying to give the buildings the same sort of blocks in one area of the map, and different in another area.

What type of map will this be?
this map will have lots of different things to do, like mining, jobs, a lottery, places to explore, farming and more. So this will basically be an economy map with a twist. I hope to take inspiration from some other maps that I have visited and kind of put them into one map. I will not be immediately adding PVP to this map, as I do not want this map to become a deathmine type map, but there may be some areas in which players can fight each other, and can also fight mobs to gain skill/collect loot etc.

To be added:
Police station
Fire station
Travel centre for getting around quicker
Shopping centre
Small touches

Scripting needs:
TBC once building is well underway.

I will update this list when needed, new things may be added as I think of them, some current things may also be taken away if I feel they do not fit. If you would like to make any suggestions of things to be added then please feel free to post them below any time, and if you'd like to help out at all then let me know below :)

Creative Features / [Components] Trying to find out who this belongs to.

I have a component pack that I have had for quite some time now, and with their permission, I would like to use various components from this pack on my city map. I cannot remember who it was that shared this component pack with me as this was some time ago, but I have a feeling it was Jet. The name of the component pack is 'Terraria Art Projects' and I wanted to find out if anybody else has this same component pack and can identify who it belongs to, that way if it is ok for me to use this in my city map then I can credit them for their work.

Video / Animated sign video

Hello miners!

Today I recorded a video of an animated sign that I made on my city map that I am currently working on. This video, admittedly, is not the best video, because some of the text is off the screen because I was recording with my phone and didn't go back far enough, but the only option that I have right now for recording is my phone and everybody has to start somewhere, so please don't be too harsh. Anyway here is the video if you'd like to take a look, I will most likely be uploading more TM videos in the future...

Creative Features / [Help Needed] Automatic lights-out script

Can someone with good scripting knowledge please help me with a script where powered lights turn off when it's daytime, and automatically come on at night, relative to game time? I have no clue how to make such a script but I would like to have automatic lighting on my city map. I tried to get the following script to work, but to no avail:

IsDayTime [true]
SetPower [577,201,344] [off]
IsDayTime [false]
SetPower [577,201,344] [on]

Is there a better way of doing this? Am I missing something here? Please let me know if there is a better way because this script did not work at all and I definitely have the correct coords. If you know of a better way then please post the exact script that I need below.
